Did you really not get that the OP is a parody? The point is that this is obviously NOT the way to hire writers. The implication then being that it is also not the way to hire programmers, even though, sadly, hiring programers is typically

If you're hiring a senior engineer that claims he spent last 5 years coding Big Table at Google, you have to take his word for it. I find this assertion to be virtually nonsensical. I've never met a programmer who hasn't written some code

The title of the article clearly states some of the problems this is trying to solve. E.g., "dust-immune". Also, they claim the heat sink to be relatively quiet (under 30dBa).

As someone who has had his ability to work saved due to anecdotal evidence, I could not disagree more with the OP. Well, sure, if someone has anecdotal evidence that the theory of gravity is wrong, or that 1 + 1 = 4, by all means downvote t

I never said that the letter didn't say what it intended to say. Nor did I say that it doesn't say what it intended to say well. My point is that it's not a message worth saying, just like the message, "Just say no" is not worth saying. It'

I didn't gloss over any deeper meaning to the letter--it's not there. It's a very focussed and on-point sermon on remaining faithful. He barely even touches on why men sometimes cheat, other than to prove their manhood. But without addressi

I'm not as impressed by this letter as others seem to be. Reagan's only advice is don't cheat and say "I love you" every day? Who goes into a marriage expecting to cheat? And if you even have the slightest inkling of wanting to cheat at the

Yes, that was the one! The two telescopes that I worked on that had no such problems were XTE (aka RXTE) and AXAF (aka Chandra). I only did a little bit of work for AXAF, but I worked on XTE for years. In addition to some other miscellaneou

I have to second this. I worked on two NASA space telescopes (both X-ray telescopes), and although we had on the ground something like the telescopes that were flown, the equipment on the ground was not flyable, and if the launch rocket had

I never pack my code like that without whitespace, as doing so is only readable when you have single-letter variables, which is not very common. I agree with the OP. CamelCase and underscores are both scourges.
