The question of why you would want to run your server code on Windows (aside from supporting legacy .NET apps) remains. Those same sysadmins can overwrite Windows with a BSD or Linux on those cheap laptops.

I really hope they make WSL's /home/. symlink to /mnt/c/users/. by default. What's the point of having a separate filesystem and home directory? I want native POSIX in Windows. The WSL implementati

I noticed this with my new XPS laptop last year. After moving to GNOME, things started Just Working. A lot of what we consider basic functionality is implemented differently by each DE, and running in userspace, or is completely absent (lik

OpenMW is insane. I am totally floored by entirely reverse-engineered game engines like it and OpenRCT.

This is amazing and unexpected. I hope this sets a precedent for other developers to follow with their old titles.

Every article I read focusses on how quantum computing differ from classical at a high level. I know these are probably asinine questions, but how are these computers actually used? How are these experiments instructed to the machine? Do t

I find it sad/ humourous that open source printer firmware was part of the impetus behind the free software movement, yet it's probably still one of the most opaque areas there is.

This is it. Firefox feels half as fast, or worse, for JS performance. For example, I have Chromium installed just to use sites like Zillow and Google Maps. I know these aren't the best examples, for a variety of reasons (Zillow is a me

Think about being one of the best and brightest hackers out there... why would you want to work for the NSA? What incentive do you have, other than a boatload of money? Isn't the regular, guilt-free FB boatload enough?

I recently accidentally re-activated my old FB account from high school (deactivated 2010). It's all still there. It's more like "unpublishing" your account than really "deactivating" it.
