Wait... Are you saying that your experience with Go has been bad? I would think Go would be as good as any other language (if not better). The language itself is simple, the Go team is very methodical about adding new features so it change

I was thinking the same thing. But after looking at their site, I think they make money when people book through them. They also seem to sell something that appears to be a form of travel insurance that gives a user a credit to book a diffe

There are plenty of miniPCs with replaceable RAM and storage. Some of the newer ones based on the Ryzen Ai CPUs have soldered RAM but most don't. Replaceable CPU is harder to find. However, there is the Minisforum MS-A1 which has an AM

Depends on what you mean by "high end graphics" The Ryzen Max+ 395 is in the ballpark of a RTX 4060 (but I believe it's starts to massively fall behind when ray tracing is enabled). It's an iGPU so I would imagine noise

Is it possible to finetune a model like this with local hardware? Every tutorial I've come across on finetuning a local LLM uses some cloud service like colab or runpod.

They have already added Steam support to their Xbox PC app. https://www.theverge.com/news/690967/microsoft-xbox-app-wind... Its not a stretch to think that they will add Steam to the next gen Xbox. They are dead

I could certainly be wrong. Maybe I'm just not thinking creatively enough. I just don't see how this doesn't get commoditized in the end unless hardware progress just halts. I get that a true AGI would have immeasurable value

Not only do I think there will not be a winner take all, I think it's very likely that the entire thing will be commoditized. I think it's likely that we will eventually we hit a point of diminishing returns where the performance

Can someone let Cloudflare know that humans use Linux too? I've had to click that checkbox so times that I'm starting to wonder if I'm actually a replicant.

There are 3 kinds of developers. 1. Those that are motivated by "building things". The actual programming is just a means to an end. 2. Those that are motivated by the salary alone and either hate the work or are indifferent to it

I think it's weird to most people. I've used NixOS on my personal machines for 2 years and Nix lang is easily the worst thing about it. I'm definitely not a huge functional guy but I'm familiar with Lisp/Scheme and

To be fair, the Nix code in a very simple config probably looks like some weird JSON like derivative to a layman because of how brackets heavy the language is. I could see someone glancing over a tutorial and thinking "they should just

If you need a specialized skill set (deep knowledge of current LLM limitations) to distinguish between human and machine then I would say the machine passes the turing test.

You'll likely have to be careful with profiling here. You'll probably need to have documentation/proof that you ask this question to all candidates regardless of race or immigration status. And yes, that means you'll n

That won't end ads. Just like paid cable subscriptions didn't end TV ads. Or how ads are slowly creeping into the various streaming platforms with "ad supported tiers".

I wouldn't mind Google being forced to divest in Chrome if Microsoft and Apple were forced to divest as well. OS vendors being the only "big tech" companies allowed in the browser market doesn't strike me as a good move

They can do that now. I don't think Chrome is a very popular browser for desktop Linux users. Or, at the very least, it is definitely not as dominate as it is on Windows and macOS.

The alternative is employees of OS vendors writing the specs. And they would intentionally drag their feet or even outright refuse to standardize features that encroached on native apps in order to maintain their walled gardens. Apple did

As long as OS vendors are allowed to bundle browsers with their OS then any paid browsers is at a huge disadvantage. Most people are going to pay for a browser when their OS comes with a free one that is good enough. Thats how Microsoft k

Are the big players (minus Google since no one blocks google bot) actively taking measures to circumvent things like Cloudflare bot protection? Bot detection is fairly sophisticated these days. No one bypasses it by accident. If they are ge
