But do you have a source for the $5mn/year salary? I have never heard such figures anywhere for JS four or five years out of college.

But the point is that the retracted research is irrelevant even inside research. That is kind of a blow. It points to the discipline not being coherently built on shared theories but rather being a set of disjointed hypotheses.

Proposing theories and then testing them in data is what the scientific method is. Many theories were proposed before they were confirmed or refuted in data. Einstein's theory of general relativity is a famous example which was propose

There are many other species here on earth that have intelligence (problem solving skills, tool use) and culture (locally shared behaviors, dialects). Some may be more intelligent than us but less able to put it to the domination of their e

I am with you on the point about order of magnitude but I don’t understand what you mean by log n being smaller than all positive real numbers. We are talking about asymptotics, since we are talking about O(f(n)) for some function f, right?

Yes, unfortunately, Lean is harder to search for than some other programming languages. Although it seems workable: both DuckDuckGo and Google return Lean-related top results for me for "lean induction" and "lean match expres

Japan hasn’t had much GDP growth since 1990. You could say that its economy is stagnating. Yet starvation is hardly a defining phenomenon for its population. They have one of the highest life expectancies. Healthcare is widely available. Te

I use both. In my experience, syntax highlighting with language servers is slower than with tree-sitter. It stands to reason: a language server often does way more than just incremental parsing of the source code into a concrete syntax tree

One benefit is that you don’t have to write a complex tree sitter mode for every editor. You can write an LSP server once and plug it into every editor. Rust analyzer also provides compilation errors, lints, and code actions. It would be a

List comprehensions read like math which we know from school. Do notation reads like Haskell which is fine but less accessible to non-Haskellers. Fmap is somewhat less convenient for slightly more complex examples such as [x*y | x <-
