True. And I can see that some webs gradually stop working if you are using JS blockers. For example Aliexpress used to work fine with uMatrix. Now, if I click on the Next page in the paginator, it behaves like it loaded the next page, jumps

yes, I have a feeling that Windows people are coming to Linux through "Windows Subsystem for Linux" to reinvent almost 50 years old concept which have been working well. Instead of using small bash which is everywhere (even in ini

It's sad there is a certificate involved so it can't be 100% compatible open alternative. I use Linux with KDE and KDE Connect which offers "send file" functionality from Android and it's enough for my use case.

I would be interested to know how today's internet-connected cars are prevented from remote exploitation. I wish they at least separated steering wheel servo controls from infotainment and remote access but I have no way to verify it..

It's not that complicated. There are only like 20+ popular javascript (or Typescript, CoffeeScript, Dart, ...) frontend frameworks to choose from (Vuejs, React, Angular, ...) and their popularity changes over time. Several so called &q

In the past, I often spent more than 30 seconds on each recaptcha. It really is a problem. That improved by allowing google cookies but now every webpage with recaptcha I visit is being tracked by Google. :(

How would you know? I could see it in a map or recommendation sites. Even user-contributed projects like OpenStreetMap could do. This is how I discovered couple of places. There doesn't have to be advertising to discover something.

I would pay for the search and to watch videos as long as the price were reasonable. I already pay for SlingTV and Netflix for example. Yet there is free to watch PlutoTV, filled with annoying ads. There should at least be an option to pay

I came to a good analogy - Imagine sending that card number using HTTP form to a HTML target URL. You wouldn't return 4xx code if a card is not found. The user would see your 404 page or browser 404 page and think the page doesn't

In my opinion 404 should really mean the API endpoint doesn't exist and therefore the requested action did nothing. Using HTTP for business logic is like using ethernet frames with parts of IP. It is another level, HTTP is just a trans

Performance matters! It is important to find the source of the slowness - for example I discovered some CSS animations are useless and very slow. Vuetify material button felt very slow on touch until I removed that useless material ink spre

yes, completely agree with this. To be successful, it has to be your hobby and you have to be hungry to know more and improve. It is also required anyway because CS and technologies changes rapidly. For example it is not common to write UI

From what I saw it is individual and also based on area of CS. There are lots of people who are for example very good in JS, CSS and HTML, doing fantastic UI work while not having CS degree. And there are some with CS degree who can't

I agree. Handling errors is difficult and that is what it is. Many times errors can be handled properly in the function and "if" helps you think about it. Programmers shouldn't be lazy to handle errors, just forwarding them t

Pitivi is great until it starts crashing. Kdenlive is stable but adding texts is painful there. I didn't like Blender video editing much (though I don't remember why anymore).

Yes, but OS is not like a javascript webapp. It is terribly difficult work to do and debug. And there are many other kernels and OSes already. Most kernels don't support the HW you need though. Even Google is writing Fuchsia!
