Geohot isn't working by himself - it's part of his B2B company, tinygrad, that sells AMD systems and is VC funded. https://tinygrad.org/#tinybox You can see in his table he calls out his AMD system as having "

Given the context of the article, I think "Rust specific" here means that "it couldn't be done in python". For example "No interpreter startup" is not specific to Rust either.

Video Streaming has surprising little overlap with Video Codecs . Once you choose input/output options, then there's little to change about the codec. The vast majority of options available to ffmpeg aren't supported in th

I'm very familiar with the stack and the pain of trying to livestream video to a browser. If JPEG screenshots work for your clients, then I would just stick with that. The problem with wolf, gstreamer, moonlight, $third party, is you n

I'm not sure what is meaningfully different about RDS that wouldn't rule out the cloud in general if that was a concern.

I think you and I simply disagree about your database being a core/critical part of your stack. I believe RDS is good enough for most people, and the only advantage you would have in self hosting is shaving 33% off your instance bill.

Unironically - I agree. You should be outsourcing things that aren't your core competency. I think many people on this forum have a certain pride about doing this manually, but to me it wouldn't make sense in any other context.

As I understand it, this is too brittle. I think this is trivially defeated if someone adds an append to your code: func do_another_important_thing(key []byte) []byte { newKey := append(key, 0x0, 0x1) // this might ma

As I understand it `--no-quarantine`, as it is currently implemented, is a noop on ARM Macs. So if Homebrew has two options: 1. Play cat and mouse with Apple to ensure `--no-quarantine` works 2. Deprecate and remove the feature.
