I wonder if part of it is that we're mentally trying to get the actual meaning and thoughts out of it. It's inflated like trying to read a bad students essay that's struggling for word count? I wish people would just post the

You can make other drastic decisions first if things seem that bad. Upend your life, move to a really cheap part of your country, change to a purely physical labor job or a self run business or something. All of those are less permanent and

I tried to take the headline seriously, but reading deeper into the piece they just do a semantic trick - the current job is "shrinking" and you need to find a new better job to do instead. This is basically what disappearing woul

Other than the back and forth / lead time issues on checking issues, what do you think a local manufacturer shop in the US would do better? If the takeaway was needing to specify stuff in the design phase earlier that's kind of a

I guess it was a predictable outreach from the Patriot act - the new justification is flying drones "over a mission" from the border people, and they claim a lot of territory for their missions, right?

Last Trump term, a small business making PC cases locally in california went out of business because of steel tariffs. I'm not sure that local manufacturing in small batches is much safer given there's aluminum and other material

If you added on top being in a foreign country and needing your employer for your visa, I think you'd basically have the same situation as the article? So that's a little precarious. I hope you have some savings built up.

The heroic launcher looks like it was trying to solve this and let you use cheaper gog games in your normal steam library. And I've seen similar tools for emulators to show up basically like native steam games

Secrecy clearly doesn't avoid that kind of story though. The question is if their numbers were really good, or at least as good as Waymo, why wouldn't they share them for the positive press? Waymo doesn't get as many negative

How do those relate? If the agency has been told to look at specific types of people to check for their papers, does it matter the race of the enforcers?

In the long run transitions like this work out and new jobs show up, but the people who had the old jobs don't always make the jump or keep equivalent pay. Could be it shakes out in a generation or two, of course.
