The same way they do it with Admob. They might send you a postcard with a PIN on it and you have to enter that PIN in an online form somewhere later.

Most of these router devices use NOR flash; much more expensive than NAND, which is the one you're used to seeing in USB sticks.

This was only found because LG was stupid enough to use plain HTTP instead of HTTPS. I wonder how many devices use SSL/TLS for this same thing that just haven't been caught yet.

GnuPG is not a solution for this. The problem is not just about the contents of the message, but knowing your communication habits. GnuPG can't encrypt who your message is going to, being replied to, when, or even the subject. The NSA

This is fantastic. Any girl who uses something like this is someone to stay away from anyway and now it just gets easier. Keep up the good work.

It's as if he forgets the re-use part of being green. A custom Google Chromebook ASIC will work for that and then cannot be repurposed into anything else. To add new features would mean a change of fabrication for the ASIC which is expensiv

Easy to unbrick also though, don't throw out your bad ones! Follow the instructions at: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr703n#back.to.origin... And don't worry about soldering the serial leads to those pads. If you suck at solderi

I think an overlooked category here is small, cheap Linux-based routers running something like OpenWRT. A great example is TP-Link's TL-WR703N which is as little as $24USD. It has very little RAM and memory, but OpenWRT is an excellent, sta

Just like the PC. Funny how they manage to do this all over again. Apple will go bankrupt again in the 2030's until around 2039 when Jobs gets re-animated...to squander whatever the next big opportunity will be.

Did you miss the part about dual-licensing, GPL and paying for non-GPL? It worked out quite well for MySQL IIRC.

Oh, so is the ARM support decent now? Last I read (probably too long ago) it wasn't very good. I'm still using Lua in embedded projects. It's nice, nixio libs make is very nice and integrates with C ever so easily when needed.

Given how many companies are being acquired now just for the team to be added to large-company engineering teams, is this really surprising? How many co's have Google, Twitter and Facebook acquired just to toss the idea aside and integrate

Well there is a small company that created a credit card reader using it to enable smartphones to act as Point of Sale machines. They call it "Square".
