Having one of my direct reports mention that they are trans and that using "guys" to refer to the team made them feel left out was really all it took... you have to take people at their word at some level and "consider altern

When I was an undergrad we had a trebuchet building competition between a team of mechanical engineers, and a team of physicists. Believe if or not, the mechanical engineers were the ones who spent the entire building time making CAD models

I think you are wrong, stating it prominently and repeatedly makes the warning disappear into noise for users so there's little downside and a lot of upside if it were in fact being operated by the FBI. I doubt it is though, I don'

If in direct comparison they rate McDonald's higher, then that's fine... McDonald's is a huge business, they obviously have people who like them. But it should be a direct comparison, I certainly think KFC is far superior to

From a utility standpoint, I mean, yeah. You should definitely rate McDonalds lower than a restaurant with food you liked better, if people want to search for "how was the food" divided by "cost of the food" that's

When I moved to California for a while I once made the mistake of describing my food at a restaurant with "fine, thanks" when the server asked how it was. Apparently this translates very differently in the culture of the Bay Area

How would someone know this when visiting them for an occasional purchase? You might easily assume that the lower rated items rapidly stop being carried, that the items that are carried are curated to have a real bias towards higher ratings

I know that if the delay is constant, a good musician can compensate for it. I think it's a lot easier to hear that two things don't happen at exactly the same time than it is to tell whether two things happen 200ms or 300ms apart

Sure, you can do that kind of thing in principle. I think the vocal cord model needs to be constrained which will not be very fair, but I was reading papers over a decade ago about simulating speech with physical models of the voice. I assu

Wait, wait, let's not give the wrong impression. Yes, you can recycle PLA to an extent but you can't mix it in with your recylables. Few cities can recyle PS, much less PLA or at least they aren't set up to handle it. If you

It contaminates compost if you put PLA into a regular composter. It requires a special industrial compost facility to handle it and most aren't. So it's trash. If you put PLA in the recycling bin it is making sorting even worse be
