Interesting links, thanks. The one thing I am concerned about is the maintenance stage too. The 100pushups program is cool, but what to do afterwards? You can't do 100 pushups 3 times a week. That is why I am trying to learn about the optio

I see it as doing something right now is more good than bad. I decided to get into this after I realised that I am currently doing a lot of mind work (trying to fix my weaknesses in Math and Statistics as well as programming) so I need to

At the moment I work out M-W-Sat. I start with about 15 minutes of loosening up (I still remember my old kung-fu warm-up routines) then I go for a 2 km run. When I get back I do the program for the push-ups and sit-ups together. Its varied

I have just completed week 4 day 1 of this program (plus I am also doing the 200 sit-ups program at the same time). I like it because it is SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time framed. That said, I have spoken to a qua

Wow, I now have to upgrade all my goals :) As I always find myself becoming a teacher no matter what job I do (I finally gave in and am now an English teacher) my proudest moment was during my technical training for the US Air Force as an e

Thanks for adding your input to this thread. I think that the way I am eventually going to go is the "starving artist" route. I do love creating ideas, but I hope "some other guy" can monetize them via action. I think I will just have to fa

Interesting. Here is a list of some other resources: http://www.innovationtools.com/Products/ideamanagement.asp I looked through a bunch of these when I was approached to make an enterprise level IMS for a large chemical company (30,000+

The idea is for "doers" like you to take something and run with it. If you profit from it, that is good enough for me, as it validates the strength of my ideas. I don't want to receive anything from the people who do the hard work to make m

I can agree with your first point, sometimes I do wonder if I am slightly schizoid. But as I responded to someone below, I actually have a slightly more disciplined approach to my idea making. What you refer to as an idea, is the first of 7

Gotcha. I actually teach presenting to people, and I am a big fan of the "Beyond Bullet Points" method of creating a story format and centering it around the audience. But I wanted to cut through any "tricks* so to say, and just put the pe

I know what you mean regarding communication. And I also agree that one of the biggest problems is filtering. This is something I have looked into quite a lot in the last couple of years, as I have been trying to improve upon my own ideas.

I disagree with your first statement. I would say that many people do it. A few are also good at execution. I think these few are the ones ,for example, who start successful startups. I think many people, when they hear something from som

Don't worry, HN will be the first place that gets a link to the site. Now based on your reply: ideas are only the seed. That is true, but what about if ideas are your product? If the value of an idea is in its execution, how are we to judge

Thanks for the in depth reply. As for Edison: what if I spend my perspiration (all 99% of it) on working on the idea? I agree wholeheartedly with his eval of genius in that only 1% of the work is inspired. The rest comes from knowledge and

I actually spend a lot of time on the design of how the idea should be executed. The one thing I always seem to run into is the "one founder" problem. Too many things, with too many skillsets (at a high level) need to be done at once. I don

Hi there. I am working on the same problem too, so maybe we can compete against each other :) I took the idea of higher-res to mean that you have different, closer and more often contact with your customers. I have worked with a lot of CRM

It seems very interesting, but there is one thing I do not like, and that is having the menubar on the side. I always feel as though I'm losing so much screen real estate to it. (This is also the reason why I stopped using iGoogle as my hom

For all the spamminess of the content, I did see something useful in there. You get the door slammed in your face 50 times, don't give up. Try to learn why it's happening. I've seen a lot of chat here recently about needing more info on why
