From a Hardware side, I have nothing to say about this right now. But from a Software side, my Librem 5 matches these points exactly: - No more bloatware - just the features you want and the power you need - choosing your preferred operatin

FWIW, Neovim can be configured to the point where mouse+keyboard input behave exactly like a GUI text editor would. I'm struggling to find it now but I've seen a distro shared here that aims for a more Notepad-like experience with

All the time. I think it's a great way to "learn" the environment you're coding in sometimes. When I was first learning PHP I spent a year or two without a debugger. The first time I tried one I learned about a whole bun

Something must be wrong with yours. BT audio with my headphones and car works fine. Browsing is fine in FF unless the website is very JS intensive. Maps works with Puremaps. The terminal is fine? Unless there is something specific you want

Seconding this, my L5 has been a daily driver for almost a year and while their are hiccups it's more than usable day to day. I spend a lot of time on the phone for work.

I cannot agree with your point more. I pirate a decent amount of media. If piracy was not an option, I would simply live without the TV/Movies I download.

I have never used Uber/Lyft, so I cannot say. There is one Android app I am using through Waydroid. It's a 2FA app I need to log in to work. Uber/Lyft may also work through Waydroid, but I have no idea.

FWIW, I have been daily driving a Librem 5 for about 5 months now. It is NOT slow. Some JS heavy pages take a long time to load (FF is mostly fine, GNOME Web is not) in the browser. Other apps work totally fine speed-wise. There's a lo

And how can you verify that those permissions are behaving the way that you asked them to? Google themselves have publicly stated that turning off GPS in your settings menu doesn't actually turn it off physically. So how do we know tha

Well this is without a doubt a good move, I still take the cynical stance that using any sort of Google software and hoping for privacy is pointless.

Is there a desktop client for Bitwarden that isn't Electron-based yet? I tried this years ago and didn't like it. Not only because Electron, but I thought it was missing a lot of basic features (folders/organizing passwords w

About 3/4 of my day is meetings, so I have about 1-2 hours per day to actually get work done. Generally this means we all work through our meetings and both the work and our attention to the meetings suffers. A good day is when there i

Mint or Elementary make sense. Another idea - if there aren't any real requirements from the system other than allowing your kid to poke around - try something like Haiku. It's not Linux but it's interesting and different and

What you are describing, almost to a T, is Purism's Librem 5 - https://puri.sm/products/librem-5/ . Also I would look in to Pine64's PinePhone (Pro), or even Fairphone.

Not OP, but we often include these two in our interviews: 1. Write code that will find the second largest item in an array on ints. 2. Write SQL that selects the second highest number from a DB table. I'm floored how few candidates can
