This is what most hackers want: - residence in the USA; - working for a small salary to cover expenses, - but with strong guarantees of equity (ownership or something like it) US immigration law is designed to stop all of this. Because for

The author is Philip Greenspun. His outlook on life is really dark. He made some money in the 90's and since then seems to have spent a lot of time thinking about the problems of the rich. I once saw a talk he gave at Google, the upsho

If you only look at the business-customer transaction, it's the same. But otherwise it's totally different. If a bad driver can't get insurance, they are taken out of the pool of people who are driving. Everyone wins. There a

Indeed. I think a possible scenario is that governments will legalize Bitcoin as long as you tie your address to your government-issued ID, and you're not on a blacklist. Basically you'll have a Bitcoin license. This gives them an

It wasn't the IA's fault. At the time, the IA was already working on an API to submit URLs and to rapidly cache items, so we just needed early access. The GSoC student didn't follow up with the process of getting it adopted.

The rapid purge is probably inspired by the requirements for a large, popular wiki. The Fastly team comes from Wikia. When the entire page is static, but changes must be communicated everywhere instantly, rapid purging is the answer.

How can you do a fair test across so many different providers? Presumably you did not host the exact same content with every single service. Also, I'd be interested in seeing the results for Fastly.
