#2 is a great filter question. You'll be surprised how many people don't have a clue on this. I'm more than willing to answer that question. It tells the interviewer I have a basic understanding and can expand on it later

Real estate transactions in india are one of the largest areas where tax cheating and black money goes in to. It's not surprising the sector was hit. I'm not sure if it's a bad thing.

I was about to comment that while any database can serve as a log replay and may even be feasible for these volumes, scaling it at high volume later would be extremely hard - I have experience with this in a multi-petabyte set up and its a

Yep, whiteboard programming - not good . Whiteboard interviews is too generic a name to use for that.

I see a lot of naysayers for whiteboard, but pretty much no opinion on what they think is better than whiteboards.

I don't get the hatred towards white boarding during interviews. That's exactly what I do when brainstorming design, general architecture, state machines, explaining data structures used etc. The use of white board in an interview

While it's true you don't need to design for scaling right off the bat, if you do become successful and keep pushing out the scaling pieces , the cost of scaling later increases nonlinearly. At some point it becomes so important t

I'm genuinely curious to know what you are implying here. Indians in the US are making highest median income because of some kind of racism/cronyism favoring them? I always thought it's because a significant percentage (not a

Indeed, sbt has its advantages. We found it it too complex for our use cases where maven provided an out-of-the-box build process, and sbt did not.

Agree with this. Build tools should remove complexity, not add it. We tried adopting sbt and we found its way too complex and switched back to maven.
