Yes they are. They are mocking it because they think it's a privileged network only for people who are willing to pay the grand sum of 50 US Dollars. It was the same story with svbtle. This smug sense of entitlement is frankly disgusting.

I am not really interested in all the twitter/app.net hoo-haa but I find it intriguing that we are at a stage that one guy develops a product and charges $50 for it. And the rest of the world mocks him for not making it free.

I think when they say 'technical' , it probably means are you the one doing the technical job in the startup. For a CS-based startup, it's a programmer. For a hardware based startup, it could be the electrical/mechanical guy.

regarding #2.. I used Mac for a week and went back to Windows. The jerky scrolling in Windows was driving me crazy. The fact was that before Mac I never realized that (maybe I'm numb to perfection) but it was only using Mac that it occurred

apparently it is developed with jQuery and jQuery mobile. Would love to see how it fares on Android devices. Our experience with Sencha Touch (wrapped with PhoneGap) has been not so good on Android performance-wise.
