They can always move to Pakistan. Phds from abroad is one of the most well-paid positions here thanks to the recent influx of numerous private business-minded universities opening up in every city.

Does this work even we keep pushing commits on a remote repository? We extensively use Github Pull Requests for code reviews and most of the time we squash our PRs into a single commit but I would love to have a way to merge into multiple s

Hiring teams will also mean they would be leaving together. If that is unplanned then your project(s) could really be in a pickle. Cheaper to have backup for individuals as opposed to teams.

The chai wallahs exist in Pakistan as well and I can relate to many experiences shared in the article. The chai wallah next to our university was a frequent hangout spot. On a related note few months ago a chai wallah from Islamabad got rea

We have struggled from performance perspective because we have a relational database at the back. GraphQL has been limited our overall use of JOINS which means multiple queries to fetch data for different data which could've been fetch

We have used PhantomJS and WKHTMLTOPDF both. Phantomjs hogs a lot of resources but is very good when you want print large PDFs (500+ pages). WKHTMLTOPDF struggles with larger HTMLs.

JSON.parse() is one issue we faced regularly. Any large amount of data fetching could block the event loop and the whole server slows down. It's very unforgiving. We go great length to figure out which attributes to fetch and add limit

We focussed a lot on async collaboration and unfortunately we get issues of team associations. You just miss out on any water cooler talk and struggle to build relationships with individual employees. This impacted our employee turnover mas

Peshawar, Pakistan. It's one of the highest terrorist-hit cities of the world but my parents love this place and are unwilling to move anywhere else. Due to their age (and lack of better retirement facilities) I live with them.

Does anybody have experience integrating style guides in your existing code base? Our old code base doesn't follow any style guide. After adding a style guide it requires us to go back and fix all our old files which is time consuming

That's great to hear. I certainly don't think the problems are cultural. I believe it's the inherent business model which is not aligned. You are happy with your outsourced teams but I would love to know how do you compare yo

forward progress means learning. if our colleague gets into an unexpected issue and he takes time to solve, we pat him for it. however it's important that the learnings have to be shared. they should be tangible enough to be reapplied

This is superb work. Just one question, does it have the feature to add offline custom methods to the model e.g. I want to add instance calculateAge() for each User ? I couldn't find it in the guides. Angular-RestMod provides it >

In one of the initial posts of the series, OP mentions that functional programming doesn't have app state. Can anyone point out more details on this? I don't know if I am understanding it correctly but one of the reasons I absolut
