Last time I tried to grab an Uber from the airport (around 4 weeks ago) it no longer worked. You could see rides in the area but if you tried to drop a pin anywhere on airport property it wouldn't let you.

Firstly the people running this are already incredibly wealthy by themselves. They more than likely funded the startup costs themselves, or through wealthy benefactors. They pay operational expenses from a percentage of the money they raise

I'd love to hear more about your experience in negotiation. What resources do you recommend? Has this mostly come from experience or elsewhere? If you want to take it off list: dwyer.ed@gmail.com :)

I believe if you offered market rates on these high risk loans there wouldn't be any profit. The default rate is too high to allow for market rates.

At what point do tech companies start making two factor authentication mandatory? It's one thing to say "We tell our users to use two factor authentication - it's their fault if they don't use it" but it's anot

The thing that I love about Assembly is that they're not afraid to take risks. There is a lot of unknowns about how this style of company might work and therefore a shitload of risk. The potential upside is huge if this works but eithe

My understanding is you don't "qualify" for rent control in SF. You automatically get it when you move into a building built before 1979. Then the landlord can only increase rent (as a general rule) by about 1% per year. So t

Interesting question. INAL but I would suggest it's not reasonable grounds for search. Either way in this situation the defendant not only allowed the search but pointed out where to find the drugs.

They're generating $1.8bn in business a year for contractors around the US. I assume this will be spent on fuelling growth and building a moat.

Loving the aesthetic of this site - breaking away from the mould of the billion other business podcasts. Having Keith Rabois for your first episode is a strong vibe too.

The challenge of not having taken funding as well is that you can't use your last valuation as a bench mark. ie they offer you $1m, you can't say "Well, that's far below our last valuation of $5m" or "in order

This is great. I love the idea of the salty old fisherman but would also love to see comedians, artists and amateur historians. Ricky Gervais' tour of the Vatican, Louis CK's tour of Brooklyn. Rev share for the artists.

Hackpad is a good starting point for tracking but if you really want to know how well you're converting, and automate a follow up email, I recommend you try out ToutApp.com. Super simple, super effective for this kind of thing.
