What are you going on about? I know plenty of people who are just a little too proud to identify themselves as "right wing". And as a colonialism it isn't inherently a negative thing. As a native "anglophone", I bel

I think you are mixing up causation and correlation here. Learning an instrument isn't going to make you a better programmer; applying pedological techniques you used to learn an instrument to learning programming might.

Everything you just described seems like reasons to not use CSV files in general, rather than not use AWK on CSV.

Those packages are separate so you don't have a bunch of debug info laying around that a very small percentage of the user base will use. Hosting this on the web is cute but not as convenient as just a package that can easily be distri

A lot of laptops are built with pretty lack luster thermal design. Less voltage means less waste heat. If you can lower voltage without lowering clock speed, you'll be able to maintain turbo boost longer instead of constantly thermal t

I replaced the thermal paste on my laptop and no longer thermal throttle. Didn't even get fancy with exotics, just regular Arctic MX-4.

They probably called it "posturing" because it is entirely synthetic. No one really cares about the game last night or whatever other nonsense there is. It is all just hollow talk to fill what might be considered "awkward sil

The claim that any of this has zero infrastructure cost is laudable. Either OP is extremely naive or being very disingenuous in there bias. The farmer is notoriously running around the farm fixing shit in between tending to the crop because

Renewables are not a silver bullet either. There are plenty of nasty things that go into building batteries and solar panels with no where near the attention to safely disposing them. Plus, renewables just can't handle baseload and loa

Lolwut? Personal computers have definitely been around _longer_ than just 20 years. Maybe not 40, but it is ludicrous to suggest _less_ than 20 years.

Xenon is both a fission product and a neutron absorber. So if your reactivity dips too low you won't have enough neutrons buzzing around to sustain the reaction and will have to wait for the xenon to decay before you are able to start

It really doesn't make that big a difference. I have single core, 515MiB VMs that idle at <1% utilization with background noise. Most distros come with logrotate anyways.

Sometimes you cannot directly compare two numbers because they are on two different scales. It is basically like saying 10cm is bigger than 5in because there are 10, ignoring the fact that if you normalized the values, 5in would be a larger

Let's not kid ourselves here, an 8 hour work day takes up a ton of time when you factor in cooking, cleaning, and attending to other chores. Maybe you even have to take care of another small human too. It is incredibly disingenuous to

Do people really create zpools within a VM for more than playing around? The best practice is to point a VM at a zvol the way you might use LVM on bare metal to back storage for VMs.

Some of it has to do with hardware vendors like Qualcomm refusing to support older chipsets with newer kernels, or you know, just open sourcing their drivers. My pixel 1 is basically stuck on a 3.18 kernel forever, even if I go and compile

Trouble is pointers don't have to be integers. The standard lets you address by fruit and veggies if you have such a machine.
