Probably the best move, I mean what can you say? An immediate apology isn't going to be credible and you can't really claim innocence at all.

The fishing one is the outlier, since in that case th cheaters were caught red handed in dramatic fashion in front of a crowd. With the chess and poker it's much less clear if anything happened and what to do about it.

While this one went pretty ridiculously big and so got attention, I wonder how many small versions of this exist, claiming a valuation of a million or two and slip under the radar.

Optimally a lot of decks will have 4 fetches if they are dual colored, and 10+ if they are multicolored. You could have a single fetch and some shocks to save money but you'll lose some percentage of games from the damage.

The claim in the original comment that I replied to was that Hans had admitted to cheating in "real, official, prize money online tournaments", which was when he was 12. As for cheating and stakes I think it all depends. His claim

Part of it is that he cheated on Chess.com which does not publicize bannings for cheating/punishments, so there wasn't really a reason for the tournament to not invite him since at that point from an organizers perspective it was

They are pretty accurate, though of course when you are dealing with the person at the very top it's going to be hard to say how accurate it is. I think broadly though most experts agree that Hans beating Magnus was an unlikely but pos

To be fair to Hans, his claim is he cheated in a prize money tournament when he was 12. If he cheated in prize money games besides that it would be different, but I think most people are willing to forgive a 12 year old.

Yeah, I think Magnus is making a mistake conflating two things. It is totally fine to think that Nieman should have been punished more for online cheating, but combining it with his accusation of cheating at the Sinquefield Cup come off as

He wanted the millitary to take over and execute all the Jewish people in the country, whom he blamed for all his problems. Many people are treated poorly by the police and don't start advocating genocide.

I think it's important to note that Bobby Fischer was paranoid and delusional. While he was definitely arrested and injured, his exact claims here should be viewed sceptically.
