To be fair, the cars themselves aren't dangerous - it's the drivers.

Yes, the idea is to provide drivers with clues as to the relevant speed. Straight roads are usually designed to prioritise motorised vehicles and often need speed limits to try to control the drivers. By designing in chicanes and narrow sec

You'd need a good bike and also be an elite cyclist/sprinter. I can usually manage 30kmh for an hour or so (providing there's a good tailwind and I'm going downhill), but the issue with going faster is the air resistance

Arguably, piracy has never been theft as "theft" means to deprive an entity of their item/copy and downloading does not destroy the original. The usual counter-argument is that piracy deprives them of a sale, but that is not

I agree, but there's also teachers who give out wrong information too. Often it's when the teacher doesn't have a deep understanding of the topic and are just repeating what they've heard (or misheard) and they will typi

Seems very much like a death cult to me. They've changed policies and taken actions that will drastically increase the number of deaths across the world. e.g. cancelling aid programs, starting wars and trying to increase CO2 levels. Ma

By seeking out novelty, someone could be a more effective forager or better able to spot predators/prey hiding. ADHD often comes with a high attention to detail, so there's lots of advantages that could come with that (e.g. that t

I think that's a less interesting story if Batty doesn't develop and has only his self-interest. I interpret the ending as Batty coming to the end of his life and realising that all life is precious, not just his own. That's

Images of dead bodies and instructions for making chemicals are not illegal in themselves. Child porn is illegal in pretty much the whole world (arguably not enforced in the USA though where the president is a known pedophile).

Strongly disagree. Now when I use an internet search, the top answer is an AI guess/approximation to the result and can be completely inaccurate. I have to ignore that and move onto the traditional results and hope that they aren'

Don't forget about water usage (likely not an issue in Scotland), blighting the landscape (very much an issue) and probably discharging pollution into waterways as well as the inevitable noise pollution.

Here in the UK, older cars are often exempt from various safety standards. Otherwise, recent imported vehicles have to comply with e.g. headlights dipping the wrong way which is common as we drive on the left.

To me, the whole point of Batty's final scene is his empathy. PKD made a big point of empathy being the defining quality of humans and even the Voight-Kampff test relies on it.

I've always been annoyed at that too. Considering the role that "empathy" takes in the design of the Voight-Kampff, the story is pushing empathy as being a defining human trait and of course Mercerism is all about using the E

I find it difficult to believe that a power plant doesn't have enough resources to employ at least one person who could implement a VPN - even if it's just some cousin of a senior manager.

Just as the clock face has 4 quarter corners, an Earth hemisphere has 4 quadrant corners. Those 4 different corners equate to 4 different Worlds, with each having its own separate day, own separate year and a separate human race.
