You can pick and choose words, but ultimately I'm talking about genetic expansion. This has nothing to do with morals, it's the will to power.

I'm speaking of evolutionary biases, not conscious motives... in all species, the men go to war. Female lions do hunt, but they don't fight.

In my mind, things like fighting in war, working high-risk jobs, etc, all fall under protecting reproductive resources through history. Things like suffocation, drowning, and fire are a bit harder to understand... but I believe they are der

Not everyone desires materialistic things, live performances included. I love live performances, but I think most people are not really capable of appreciating "top" live performances anyways - to them, a big mac is filet mignon.

Men have had much more dangerous lives throughout history protecting women. I don't find this to surprising, although it is interesting to note.

Not saying that's the solution (they gotta go somewhere), just observing that it's remarkably clean for it's size. And that's probably the reason. Sadly, whichever side is in power, nothing seems to help reduce the homel

Any thoughts on what "going to professional services" will look like for you? I'm highly motivated by customer engagement and direct influence.

I agree that it's not a secret, but it is kind of dirty... it's all legal of course, but those credits aren't going to last forever, and unless Tesla can dramatically reduce their costs, they're going to run into problem

My city... look what they've done to my boy... So sad growing up here. I imagined I would live life as an artist in a cheap flat. It was safe, beautiful, fun, and cheap. Then Portlandia aired and the worst of the worst came to the city

The difference to me is that rural ghost towns kind of just disappear. Urban ghost towns require billions of dollars every single year: https://detroitmi.gov/sites/detroitmi.localhost/files/2018-1...

I believe these things come to a boiling point... covid has perhaps accelerated that boiling point in NYC's case. NYC was also kind of a bad example for me to use because actually, it's a really clean city. When I visited in 2016

The CEO analogy is a great one, I'll be stealing that, so thank you. HN seems to have greatly differing opinions on where the responsibility lies when it comes to private businesses, ie: Volkswagen scandal, Uber scandal, et al

In my opinion, pricing is a part of the product. If one company can produce a banana for $1, and another company requires $1,000 to produce a banana, that second company is an outright failure. The banana still tastes great.

Our cities won't become "lost" like Angkor. Our cities have already collapsed. There's crime, corruption, decaying buildings. Detroit looks like it was hit by a nuclear bomb. There's not enough money for two reasons

Yep, that's the problem with congress and parliamentary systems. They divide guilt over hundreds of people, so that citizens cannot plausibly vote anyone out. How naive and stupid are these government people? They've been swindled
