One idea mentioned in the article that I've seen elsewhere is this: "The gist, then, is that someone is “himself” because countless mental artifacts stay firm from one day to the next, anchoring that person's character over t

This isn't a news site. There's no guarantee of timeliness on any of the links submitted here. This old article could be of interest again as all schooling and most work takes place at home, over computer. A reminder of what some

The 51 days in the headline popped out to me because I have a Sonicwall brand firewall I help manage which requires a reboot every 51 days or it starts dropping packets. Yesterday was day 51 and like clockwork, it started failing.

At each of my last 3 jobs I've been a strong advocate for tracking knowledge in a Wiki. We've used MediaWiki and Confluence, and both worked well. It helps if everyone does their part to contribute, which doesn't always mean

I met with someone recently who offered 4-day workweek as a benefit, but it wasn't a 32-hour week over 4 days, it was just 4 longer days with the same number of total hours. It would be great to have 1 less commute, a 3 day weekend etc

If your computer sends a larger MTU than the next device upstream can handle, the packets will be fragmented leading to increased CPU usage, increased work by the driver, higher I/O on the network interface, higher CPU load on your rou

I don't believe that tcrowe is the person who put this repo up. I do think tcrowe is posting in this thread as 1000units but that's just speculation.

Alright. Look at the reaction you're getting here, and the reaction you get to your attitude over on the Github thread, and consider that maybe your approach to getting your point across isn't working in your favor.

I guess it's just part of why something as seemingly simple as a street corner trash can is such a challenging problem to solve. I wish I didn't need 500 lbs of safety features in my car but you need to account for bad actors, idi
