It definitely stems from both factors you mentioned. No one really knows who Dustin is and he's established a brand as a person who aspires for the best and is very opinionated . For better or for worse, most commenters only really know tha

If I understand you correctly, you're saying Dustin's reputation can negatively affect the prospects of Svbtle. While Dustin's brand own brand spills over into Svbtle's, I think the network's prospects can be sufficiently differentiated fro

That's fair, but I feel like the majority of comments I've read through appear that the poster cannot separate the prospects of Svbtle with their perception of Dustin and his brand. Those aren't critics. They're haters.

Even if it was a financially/revenue-independent blog network, it's an issue. It was never an artistic -- it was always a branding issue.

Strictly referring to new media as an independent content creator, I think the statement does apply. Building the community and relationships gives you the ability to monetize much easier. However, I do agree with you on the broader point.

I had a strange issue with my Amazon account a while back where I couldn't log in and when I finally could, all my account history was lost. I can't recall if it was my mistake (I've used dot-emails before), but this definitely reminds me o

Spot on. Such assessment doesn't answer my personal question about why so many people are fixated with emulating, comparing and flat out copying Svbtle. Dustin outlined some very cool design decisions when he first introduced Svbtle, but th

It (from a screenshot) looks exactly like the Windows 8 Mail app, which is an interesting consequence of going "full metro" I'm very curious how fully functional it is.

All the author did was list a bunch of items that apparently make American Giant great, but there was story or thesis to the post. All of the remarks regarding quality like slim fit, 100% Cotton, side panels with stretch are not unique to A

I love the spin. This is a non story. This is how invention and innovation works; multiple parties come up with the same idea. Not to mention that the idea of augmented reality glasses has probably been a childhood dream for many.

I see what you're getting at, but some of your examples don't help your case. Whenever someone refers to something being "obvious" it can always boil down to a philosophical question of what obvious actually means. Nothing is truly obvious,

Sure, you can use Win8 without "Metro," but the live tile display still replaces the start menu. There are lots of unnecessarily buried system interactions that require using Metro.

Some of the comments criticising stripe-only and lack of Interac support, seem a tad hyperbolic. While these are valid concerns, Stripe transactions are still accepted and I'm sure there's a decent chunk of places using stripe. By the time
