He used what he is productive in though and there is nothing wrong with that. Obj-C and (to a lesser extent) Swift are pretty alien to a long-time .NET developer. The author of this app is very active in the Xamarin space and recently contr

My wife's department (at an unnamed major investment bank in London) just gave up on trying to hire for a position in Frankfurt. They'd been trying to fill it all year. They're now going to hire for it in their UK branch offi

We've been running F# in production since 2014 - almost 7 years. It is quite shocking to hear anyone imply that F# is not ready for production use - that it is just "cool" tech. (when has F# ever been cool in the minds of the

There is nothing concerning Windows 10X that undermines anything I have said. UWP is the future of Windows - correct. I'm not sure any significant part of UWP has ever been in the kernel per se. It sounds like you're a consultant

WinUI / Project Reunion is just a continuation of the UAP (Universal App Platform) libraries. The support for C# works for F# - just like basically any other C# library can be used from F#. I figure the reason they don't mention F

As per those links - the workarounds found in 2018 allow you to submit to Windows Store. But even still - my app is sideloaded and never needed to care about .NET Native at all.

Yes - F# provides its own async model via an `async` computation expression. But you can also use the TPL in .NET BCL. F# 6 will have native support for TPL via a `task` computation expression. But honestly, its own async model is great - a

But Google CAPTCHA has been asking the same questions now pretty much since its inception. Are we really still training it? Or is it just running on auto-pilot at this point? I'm guessing it's likely the latter.

If we're doing analogies, let's do them right :) Therefore I'd argue it is more like supercharger overheating on a car. As a supercharger gets hotter from prolonged load it gets hot and warms the air entering the engine which

Xamarin is huge in the .NET world and Microsoft is investing heavily into it. I know plenty of LOB apps, huge apps, built in Xamarin. I don't even know of a single app built in Flutter.

We've been working on our Xamarin Forms based product since the first beta in 2014. We released to Android first. Then in 2018 we built a UWP variant of our app. This process barely took a week if I don't include the technical deb

We've been using Xamarin Forms on the (UWP) desktop for a few years now. It's pretty great. There are bugs yes, but so do all these magic cross-platform UI frameworks. They're investing heavily into MAUI to fix a lot of these

We just finished integrating Vega-Lite into our Xamarin mobile app - with support for UWP, Android and iOS. It's great. The charts are self-contained in a blob of JSON, so you can ship them around easily. It supports both Canvas and SV

There are rumours of a Flutter back-end coming for Xamarin.Forms/MAUI. Or possibly a something lower level in Windows itself (which a MAUI back-end could tap into).
