In addition fast.js functions are not functionally identical to the native functions, just close enough for typical usage.

I'm not saying non-single-page-apps are slow, but that single-page apps can be faster in certain circumstances. When I click a link in your example I still get that slight delay, which could be eliminated with a single-page application

Domain knowledge is only useful if you work in the same domain year after year. That's often not the case. Atleast I've worked with three completely different domains the past year.

How often did he change employers? I can't see how changing often somehow prevents learning. Even if he changes his employer every year, there should easily be enough time to learn.

I lost interest at the 'minimalist gossip newspaper' analogy. In my opinion the power of the analogy is exaggerated. The text was easy to undestand until that part.

One solution is for the browser to provide a "anonymized" bitmap picture, e.g. setting the links to default colors. I don't know how feasible that is. It would require a new rendering of the page, at least.

JavaScript with Node.js has those same features, but you can just type "node mycode.js".

Because the person who runs the site in all probability is a male if you don't know otherwise. It's a non-sexist probability assessment.

Your point should've been "transportation emissions are only a small share of total CO2 emissions". If you want to reduce CO2 emissions, you should start by becoming a vegan.

Well, of course frameworks add more boilerplate when you compare small problems. You get the benefits of a framework only after your application scales.

I don't remember trying ZNC, but the problem with all the irc bouncers I've used before was that it wasn't neatly integrated to the irc client. If you're using screen+irssi, everything works exactly like you would expect

The problem with most IRC software is that they're not always online. The usual solution is irssi, which is what I've used for the last 6 years.

It's easy to publish a NPM package. First, create package.json by googling "package.json cheatsheet". Then type npm publish and you're done.

I agree. These days static templating is preferred over dynamic templating. The static files, like index.html and of course other resources like images and stylesheets are cached and served by a CDN very quickly. Dynamic content is fetched

You need to ship the "the whole API" with the browser for security reasons. If the API could be installed in a modular fashion in realtime while browsing, it couldn't be made secure in practise.
