Just go with national / global pool for the denominator. There are about 4 million high school graduation age children in the usa. Probably about 80-100 million world wide. About 20000 ivy league spots per year. So you need to be ab

I guess the secondary sort is reserved for university, with a tertiary sort waiting at the corporate level. the heavy lifting is being done by the sorting, not the lottery at each level.

Why stop at the students, choose the professors by lottery too, Nih grants by lottery… May as well just burn limited resources. Lottery math doesn’t work. Someone has to fund the lotteries. And lotteries funding lotteries ain’t going to

You mean like brute force password search or prime factorization ? That won’t help. There is no free lunch in compression, search, or learning from data.

I don’t think god can stop it now, not disney, not the lawyers, not even the communists. Your best hope is LLM’s in the current state aren’t enough, and we need to wait for another algorithmic leap or a lot more computational power improvem

LOL, I don’t think so. If LLM’s fail, they will have to fail on their own. probably programmers will get more competition from non-programmer humans leveraging LLM’s. but we have been saying everyone should learn to code for a while. Jo

Vertical integration is a value add. By restricting it, you make it harder for challengers who want to start with vertical integration. Example: vertical integration restrictions prohibit car manufacturers from operating dealerships. Tesla

I do think general AI is further away than what current large language models can do though. Learning needs to be almost as fast as inference and be done simultaneously and continuously to inference.
