Okay, I think I am hitting some weirdness in Dart-mode itself. But it's to do with something unrelated in my config perhaps, because now I can't reproduce this with `emacs -Q`, and my dart-mode setup itself is only `(use-package d

I have the same experience. Being on master and nativecomp probably helps, and I also think eglot is tad smoother than lsp-mode. I am using 10 year old laptop, no friction at all with tsserver, elixir-ls or gopls. However I think the server

That's awesome! Now, what needs to happen for this to be supported in generic LSP clients like Emacs lsp-mode/eglot or nvim-lsp?

Macros can be de-mystified with proper editor support. In Emacs and Lisp you can (recursively) use "macroexpand" to see what code it produces in-place. I am not an Elixir user (though thinking about hopping on), apparently there i

Emacs and Org-mode has great integration with multiple SQL implementations including Postgres (via org-babel). Org-mode tables are pretty neat, and you can have query result directly populated into tables. Read this blogpost if you are inte

The doc contains cheatsheets such as "Gleam for X users" where X is currently Erlang, Elixir, Rust and Python. I think this is a fantastic idea and could be adopted by other language communities! Might I ask for some more guidelin

Sorry but why would you write a latency sensitive, text processing heavy tool like this in Javascript? Highly likely this won't scale well in future. One would think the resounding success of esbuild would inspire next generation of fr

I think it's a fairly compelling article. There is a lot of hand-waving around tailwind; I have never seen so many people collectively play the "I can't articulate why it's good, but after using it for a while I can neve

Apparently it's finally going to be configurable in Firefox 87 (next release)[1]. browser.quitShortcut.disabled true The default will still be false though. [1] https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5282

Sorry I am not a user of either. I think this might be it for Spacemacs: https://www.spacemacs.org/doc/DOCUMENTATION.html#orgheadline... I did try Doom Emacs though. I felt it was usable right out of the box with nice

I suspect I encountered the same bug (in vanilla Emacs). It seems in Emacs 27 they introduced support for sql-indent-mode[1][2] which is not shipped by default but is in elpa. However there is a hook that checks if that package is installed

> Well, imo VSCode does require some significant configuration, it's not as usable out of the box Indeed that's what I conclude too. But if I have to configure, tbh I would much rather do it in Emacs lisp than editing JSON. The

Conversely, I checkout VSCode every few months to see if I can switch, answer is still no. Even though I haven't significantly touched my Emacs config in a few years, the old investments still provide better "out of the box"

The point of the article clearly is about how a few general purpose shell tools can combine together to be the "right" tool in so many different usecases for which they weren't specifically designed for. You can argue for mor

Parent is talking about using "emacsclient". Basically you start Emacs in daemon mode (e.g. add "(server-start)" at end of config), and you never kill it. You just pay slow startup cost once, any subsequent client invoca

I can attest to modd too, it uses a (per project) configuration file to define include/exclude (recursive) globs, along with respective blocks of commands. I would also like to extol virtues of its sister project devd[0] from same auth

+1 for Hy. I recently did a project where I needed to embed a lisp. I actually considered Janet (since Schemes are a little too threadbare), but there was no binding for a non-C language. I might consider creating Rust or Nim binding myself

Picolisp being considered mainstream in any capacity is a pleasant surprise. Might I suggest two more Lisps that I use: Carp and TXR? I also like Picat as an evolution of Prolog.

Mine is nearly the same. I use xcape to make space behave as ctrl when pressed in conjunction with other keys, but just space otherwise. Much more convenient use of the left thumb. But yes, in practice there is some getting used to it if yo
