my current brittle setup is postmarketos on oneplus 6t. definitely kind of works. the rest of my setups are non-brittle.

you may be right. i’m not sure i would recommend someone to pursue a brittle setup, but it might be more educational.

the primary difficulty isn’t supposed to be the os, but the software you’re building. though os difficulties will always come up, depending on workload. being on linux means you gain intuition debugging locally. whatever you might be debugg

it’s not about difficulty. it’s about building useful intuition to guide your curiosity the next time an eyebrow goes up. bsd is used in prod only slightly more than macos.

passion isn’t about the labor you sell, it’s about the labor you keep. nothing wrong with lacking passion, but it was never about your patron.

earn enough money so that you can afford to lose, then start losing! losing is fun, and is the best way to learn. winners all do the same thing, losers all do different things. if you’re not regularly losing, you’re probably not doing anyth

lots of learning! also sounds like a bit of pre-existing aws state. for round two, try: - spinup a new subaccount to ensure you have total control of its state. - data goes in s3 as jsonl/csv/parquet/etc. - lambdas on cron ma

those 150 cloud experts have a serious conflict of interest wrt cloud complexity. those 250 developers are likely entrapped by the cloud experts. this is fine, and is a rich market that should be served. regardless, perceived complexity or

what op means is that for low traffic or no traffic services, lambda scales to zero where ec2 and rds do not. scale to zero is very good when zero usage is regularly reached.

learning cloud is not necessarily using cloud for all things. cloud adds capability to any engineer. if i’m on coffeeshop wifi with my low power laptop, and i need to do something intense like compile linux, i’m sol. unless i know aws. then

this. don’t learn gcp if you know aws. don’t learn android if you know iphone. don’t learn ruby if you know python. instead use that time to building interesting things. these tools are much more similar than different, and their difference

stop using terraform et al, start using boto3 from your python notebook. patching a lambda zip takes seconds. it’s done before you can alt tab and curl.

the core of aws is actually pretty good. it’s just wrapped in several layers of nutshells which aren’t needed except by the equally thick enterprise. aws is also inescapably imperative. it’s how the api and everything behind the scenes work

let this be a reminder that little snitch has existed for a long time and we all should be using it in prompt-for-everything mode. there are multiple implementations for macos. there are multiple implementations for linux. run, don’t walk.
