I love ternary operators, but nesting them is a recipe for turning your code into an unreadable mess.

Worth noting that the main reason Rubyists are disabling THP is memory consumption, which is something the author didn't measure.

As a search and rescue volunteer, I have had a number of fascinating experiences with trained scent dogs. I thought scent dogs only really worked in the movies, but watching them work to find humans lost in the woods was an eye-opening expe

I used "you" in the wrong way here. You == qualified medical people, such as in the article. Not you == oneself/one.

> Once I realized this, it never came back again. This was the same for me with RSI. It was simply the act of realizing it was psychosomatic and caused by stress that made it disappear completely.

I completely agree with you, but our society has such a stigma around mental illness that if you tell someone their back pain is caused by repressed emotions, you get what happens in the article.

What's the future for the study of Oumuamua? Apparently, it should be beyond the orbit of Saturn by the end of this month. Will we _ever_ know what it is definitively, or is it too late?

The video assumes that the most important and most difficult part of a SAR drone's job - object detection - will simply be solved at some point in the future. I am a SAR volunteer, and our team has used drones on real searches. What I

Let me get this straight: you're arguing that a 10-year-old top-100-in-the-world website taking 4 full-time engineers and having them upgrade their core framework 2 major version over 18 months is some sort of massive failure, and that

FYI, most US SAR teams use websites which basically just call "getCurrentPosition()" to get GPS coordinates from lost subjects. i.e. they leave a voicemail/text subject with a link to a website, and they can push a button on

I live in a rural town in New Mexico of about 10,000 people. We get 50 megabit symmetrical fiber from the local co-op for about $60 a month. I think the fiber was funded by a USDA grant. One of the nice things is not having to deal with big
