I guess not everyone knows about it, but someone does offer it. On tesla.com you can order a car in about 5 minutes including the time it takes to put in your email and choose a password.

Exactly. Any driver can put you at risk. Nothing to do with Tesla. As far as we can tell from reading the article, this whistleblower is reporting on stuff that is entirely resulting from driver misbehavior, which is possible in any car. Bu

If it's an international network, you'll probably use it again and it's probably not "some random" charging network. Agree about home convenience though.

> The current Tesla FSD beta has no purpose other than as a tech demo This is a bizarre take. FSD beta is many things beyond a demo. To name a few, it’s gathering data, it’s testing the system and improving, and it’s training other drive

Speak for yourself but I have no problem at all staying engaged when my life is on the line. And FSD beta with me supervising is I must admit a way safer driver than myself alone. The biggest delta is probably follow distance in edge cases.

The UI should be: you plug in and it gives you power and your credit card pays automatically. Done. You never need to touch or see your credit card or phone at any time before, during, or after the charging process. Guess what kind of EVs w

BMW, build a charging network. That’s really the most consequential thing for drivers.

It’s a car, so it’s not perfectly safe when users do not follow safe driving instructions. No surprise there. Like any car, drivers have to keep their hands on the wheel and their attention on the road situation, and stay in control at all

If anything I’ve saved more on maintenance than is reflected in Tesla’s claims so really the savings they show don’t go far enough. Not to mention the savings from accidents averted by the automated active accident avoidance systems. It’s i

Because generally speaking in the safe situations I mentioned pedestrians can usually simply cross without breaking stride. Waiting a couple of seconds is the exception and you would have to wait that long for the light to change. So it is

“vision-based” large language models. Odd restriction. Why not investigate text-based ones? Or is “vision-based” a technical term that encompasses models that were trained on text?

I never hit the button unless absolutely necessary. It rudely makes cars stop and wait while also giving drivers nothing to do other than stare at me. It’s much easier and less aita (reddit reference) to just cross against traffic when ligh

This kind of obsessing is kind of incongruous with reality given the fact that there is already one known clear leader in terms of massive, growing, and healthy charger network and overall real world charging speed. If there is a winner alr

Just a guesstimate but such a person should probably be prepared to cough up an extra $15-25 if he really insists on charging to the top. If lower efficiency cars like VW ID4 start using the network, it will be a money printing machine for

In the past surcharges for the arguably adjacent, but even more inconsiderate, case of staying past full have only applied when the station has more than 50% of its plugs occupied. So if one chooses off-peak travel times the charges could b

No idea. Have never had to do it in many trips spanning from California to Texas and Montana. Charging to the top slows down your trip and there’s no need for it in most Teslas. This is probably aimed at those who ignore that fact and insis

Sadly, it does. For example, if you’re trying to make it from Kingman AZ to Flagstaff in a low range car, you’re going to have to charge up pretty high.

Fantastic news. This will help reduce the few people who cluelessly occupy plugs for longer than needed at hardly any benefit to themselves and at some cost (time cost) to others. And make people who foolishly bought low range cars “to save
