I had the same observation. And I suspect the answer may be "yes." These are the only people remaining with the skillsets and inclination to maintain a personal website. The rest, if the mood strikes them to start a blog, will go

With many political matters, though, people inherently have to hold positions by virtue of the fact that the issues affect their material interests. You need to remain open in spite of that, but there are also limits to how open one can be

With renewables it's more fixed capital instead of a direct supply of literal energy in the form of fuel. That's less of an immediate dependency than it is with oil. Capital does depreciate over time, but ebbs and flows of interna

The pattern with these sorts of Web 2.0 companies is grimly familiar now. They start promising more access and reach for small creators. They get a lot of small creators in the door with the ease of use and cutting out of the old middle-men

I don't think it's that simple. The real problem is that people want nice, handmade trinkets at cheap Chinese goods prices. Which is why the cheap Chinese good manufacturers spam their generic AliExpress-tier wares into places lik

An additional dumb question. If all the expense was undertaken to build all the piping to functionally turn the tube into a heat source for buildings, how long would it take to sap the stored heat from the soil to the point where the temper

If stuff is being used from a stationary position it should ideally be wired. I’m sympathetic to the notion that wires look cluttered and nobody resents how thick and ungainly Ethernet cables are more than me, but defaulting to WiFi is just

Surely you realize how much of a stretch that is. If you wanted to say broadcast television or radio you might have a point but analogizing an algorithmic feed tuned to stoke outrage to families spending time together is just a farcically b

Ventilation is so underrated. There is not only the obvious benefit in reducing electricity usage, but it helps with noise (AC doesn’t run as often), dust (free flowing air keeps it from collecting in air-flow deadzones), mildew (as with du

A galactic scaled version of Crusader Kings would probably do the best job of simulating the focus of the books. It would need a pretty deep new negotiation/trade discussion mechanic though.

Humans can also game systems to promote their garbage if they care to. Spammers can hire a click farm to privilege garbage results. Spammers and scammers seem to see enough returns to invest in ways to game the internet’s openness. There wo

Successful blogs I follow do sponsored RSS feeds. It’s perfectly feasible to work ads into RSS content. What’s not doable is targeted ads, but I’d rather those all go away anyway.
