Someone spent years documenting and talking to the engineers who worked at, and on the reactor at Chernobyl, and spent a LOT of time recreating it, and the care put in it is incredible, in my opinion.

Do you have any proof/more about this? I've never heard this claim and I'd like to know more

They sold it for a lot more than it was actually worth, got actual cash from it and got a return on their investment, why wouldn't they have sold? Twitter was barely profitable when he bought it, not selling would've been crazy.

The original CEO who made that promise was kicked out, and the new one didn't care to follow it, supposedly in the dev's contract but not enough, since that didn't happen

I do wonder how much of that is just convenience, a lot of people just don't want to bother, even if they would figure it out if they tried - they just don't. Your grandmother probably could've figured it out, but tapes were

If you're gonna pay 20 bucks to someone who isn't even allowed to sell you a key, why not just activate it with massgrave?

You can't in a legit way, but if you find an ISO of it (like on massgrave) you can install it and activate it

I wonder if it might be about things like tethering, I remember for a while US carriers (AT&T I think?) used to lock it under a specific plan, but unlocking the bootloader/rooting let you bypass this limit

Isn't that what Windows 11 LTSC is though? At least a lot of it removed?

Not firmware, but is there any chance Core would release the app as open source too? It's weird to have the library open, yet the app itself closed source, especially with how bare bones it is, it could be a nice gesture of good faith,

For what it's worth he IS contributing to libpebble3 at least, but yes most of it is closed I do get the idea, he wants to build hardware and thus needs to be able to do whatever he wants to the code and not wait for merges but it suck

They tried with the "Boox E43", they apparently just grabbed random IMEI numbers, so hopefully for their next try they'll actually get the right range https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2

One day, Boox might release the Linux kernel source code they're normally obligated to make available under the GPL. Today is not that day. Too bad this issue is slowly becoming irrelevant as times goes on.

Israel has pretty tight relationship with other western powers, and more specifically the US, and also tries to attract people from said western countries to come to Israel. Whereas the Palestinians are constantly killed and forced to move,

How? They're not actual people, companies don't need a union to represent AI characters because AI characters don't need any breaks or good worn conditions, because they're not real

The issue is, people will complain even seeing the barge. But when they're installed, they basically forget about it, and get used to it. So it's just a pain either way

They did support it since they released the Files app, as Signal shows. Nothing changed all these years, yet they're now rolling out backups for iOS too, so the technology is already there.

I'm confused, what's stopping you from using one of the backup services you already have on the file after it's done? Since Signal would backup to a file in your phone? Couldn't you just point your service to it and auto

You already can, if you at least set up desktop, you can transfer also message history, though you won't have your media older than 45 days. Maybe it can work as a stopgap before they roll out encrypeted backups everywhere

Could what you're saying also be basically, you see your whole photos, your whole gallery but the app itself only has access to the one picture you tap on? That way for the user it looks the same as if the app had access to your whole
