It seems to be a perennial problem, as I was looking back through old tweets and saw that in 2010 I was complaining about the same thing. In my search results today, they're doing a good job of putting wikipedia style facts onto my scr

On iPhone, there is a built in remote app in control center, then you use the volume buttons on the phone to adjust the TV volume. It’s part of the OS, not the remote app from the App Store, and I’ve found it to be a good fit for those eme

I bought a silicon sleeve[0] for my remote - it makes it much easier to find in the dark, and it makes it really obvious which way is the right way to grab and use it. I generally use the built in remote app on my iPhone though - it’s acces

This was ~15 years ago. The bandwidth metering was in place to throttle people doing big downloads via the internet. We had something like 1gb per week at 100mbps, then gradually got brought down to something like dialup. Internet2 was not

My university required registration of MAC addresses for whitelisting & bandwidth metering. My enterprising roommate and I worked out that we could bypass all bandwidth limitations by spoofing the MAC addresses of machines in the comput

I live in America in an apartment building that was destined to become condos (in American terms, a purchasable apartment) just before the 2008 market crash. Due to the market crash and subsequent changes in mortgage requirements for condos

It was a very long time ago, but I had a long running account that was in the $5-10/month range that I used to host my email, a blog, and a self-hosted picture sharing app. IIRC, the plan either had unlimited space, or the space limit

In the case of a DMCA notice, the entity making the complaint must make it in good faith and under penalty of perjury. The target of the complaint can file a counter-notice. That is the remedy that you have if there is a false complaint mad

Are you sure the Dyson you bought was real? I have owned a Dyson stick vacuum for over 5 years and it still runs for ~15 minutes on a charge. The newer versions of the same vacuum sold at Costco are advertised to run for up to 40 minutes. T

You have a good point, because I did fail to get a 3080, but I didn't start automating until after the initial 3080 launch. On the other hand, I did get a 1080ti several months after launch during the crypto-boom of 2017 using the same
