Unity has some usability issues, too. I haven't used it regularly since 11.04 but I much prefer Gnome 3's new interface. (Which, on the other hand, many people also hate...)

We get 17 seconds into your new startup pitch when I ask you if you're technical and you say yes. A bunch of startup marketing mumbo-jumbo later and you tell me you're looking for a coder to help you. WTF?! You said you were technical?

I don't think the lesson is "being right is what matters" (working hard is praiseworthy, even if the results aren't always great), but this encourages students to work carefully and list out their steps instead of trying to do everyhing in

Open-source and free software communites for the most part are still going to be distrustful of Microsoft (and their spin-offs) as long as the company continues to extract patent licensing fees from companies that make use of Linux.

As long as Firefox's code heritage can be traced back to code released by Netscape under GPL (or Apache), Firefox will be fine. Regardless the license, aren't they still vulnerable to claims of patent violation?

I suppose it's only a matter of time until they do something obnoxious with these patents. Who will be their first target: Firefox or Chrome?
