I’m sorry, but the whataboutism argument being made about online data trackers and brokers being “the real bad guys” totally misses the point that insurers are extremely thirsty for data like this, which is a very different buyer than, say,

This is ultimately scaremongering. First off, safety was supposed to be addressed by government funds which it sounds like only recently were approved; there’s nothing fundamentally unsafe about rail when you actually build it properly. But

My point stands. Who needs to cross oceans so regularly and so fast?

The puritanical elites in America have been ruining everyone’s fun for decades. So tired of their double standards and overreach.

Just give us high speed rail. Who does supersonic travel actually serve?

I would love to see if there’s a pattern before making any hypotheses, but my go-to assumption is just run of the mill conflict of interest bias.

Seismic events for venture investment tend to be seismic events for the economy, and thus for society, whether or not the investments pay off as expected.

Meanwhile articles like this get flagged: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44481964 (Caveat; not sure this kind of flagging is a pattern) Link to the original article: https://www.the-independent.com/tec

It’s possible to do both. Attitudes like yours are manufactured by the ones to blame. Don’t shoot the messengers.

Yeah I’m not saying either aren’t useful, just that they can both be a trap for tinkerers.

No real mention of results that aren’t self-referential. I guess vibe-coding is on its way to becoming the next 3D printing: Expensive hobby best suited for endless tinkering. What’s today’s vibe coding equivalent of a “benchy”? Todo apps?

Nice! What’s the new mapper you’re using? Is it available as an IC or does it use FPGA or something?

Good docs don’t fix bad apps or APIs though. I get the sense that demand for docs is a signal that there’s a deeper problem with DX. Good docs generally only exist in places where they’ve given the rest of the DX enough love in the first pl

Interesting tech but there’s zero explanation of the actual application, so it’s all a little abstract.

Disagree. Poor engineers will go in circles with AI because they will under specify their tasks and fail to recognize improper solutions. Ultimately if you’re not thoughtful about your problem and critical about the solution you will fail.

Hard disagree. It’s not super important to be AI-pilled. You just need to be a good communicator. The tooling is a moving target, but so long as you can explain what you need well and can identify confusion or hallucination, you’ll be effec

Yeah I agree, I enjoy the process. I don’t think that’s what’s behind “everyone should learn rust” in this case, and many cases. It feels like a “cause”.
