Yes, the bane of the self learners. Explanations often omit "you don't need to know this" bits because it's crystal clear to the explainer but you're left with big gaps in the shape of black boxes in your understand

Thermoception is indeed thought to be a response to heat flux rather than absolute temperatures. If the tissue is colder, water at the same temperature should warm it up faster and thus elicit a stronger heat perception.

It doesn't take genius for an opportunistic rich person to expand their power and wealth. You're just creating a narrative from a string of cherry picked events. The Twitter acquisition also destroyed a ton of value.

Fun fact: carbon footprint was an expressions put forward by Exxon decades ago to shift blame for global warming to the consumers of energy.

I think nuclear power should be expanded. I don't think nuclear power centrals should be rushed.

What's 4D chess about saying they'll diminish the government capacity to regulate their business and proceeding to doing so? It doesn't take an evil genius master plan to go about that.

Nah LLMs are nothing like really smart junior developers. Really smart junior developers actually have a shot at learning better and moving on from this stage.

Nope. Both 'p's in prompt are pronounced. The second one has no vocalization but it is there. English is full of these consonant encounters and they are an easy way to tell if someone is not fluent.

Funny calling that a trick. These models 'generating' stuff is just recovering patterns compressed during the 'training'.

It's not a gold standard. It just shows how difficult the problem really is. Flying machines rest on the excess power of internal combustion. They have nothing to do with bird evolution.

The premise of deep learning is the automated 'absorption' of knowledge. If we're back to curating it by hand and imparting it by writing code manually, how exactly are these systems an improvement on the 80's idea of bu

Yup. Can only beat search after doing search. Goes for the larger societal systems and for the individual as well, because there's no shortcut to search the space of socially acquired knowledge.

I'd settle for an "I don't know" instead of confidently made up nonsense. People who say I don't know I can respect. People who confidently make up nonsense don't get many responsibilities from me.

I don't think telling people that have no idea what machine learning is that you work with 'AI' is giving them any semblance of understanding what you do.
