I was also expecting to see a program running on multiple computers at some point until I realised the article is actually not news-worthy.

How about goroutines? Not that they created them (although their actual implementation is fairly unique) but they certainly gave them a chance to make them mainstream.

Yes. http://reliefweb.int/jobs Edit: You'll most definitely want to avoid the big organisations. Also, right now you could join about any NGO and get sent to the Philippine, small NGOs usually work as meritocracy. And

I don't know if I'm late on this or not. Anyway, you may want to go to Thailand for some time. Live on tourist Visa, renew them in neighbouring countries while enjoying time off. You could easily spend about a year without running

I suppose the internet generation never really took the time to read man pages (nor to write one for that matter).

Very nice analogy (the lingua franca ). The state of CS and the convergence we're seeing toward the web worries me though.

Same same. Though I'm happy with having a lot of stuff out of the stdlib because we know where that kind of things leads. As long as performance is good enough, that probably won't be a problem and discoverability is still ok (agr

I was thinking about redistribution of one's work. It would be a lot of hassle for a simple patch.

It wasn't meant as a fully maintained fork. Look at it as a set of patches on top of the stdlib. As for the license, it does matter since with the GPL you'd be stuck and it turns out that there's some debate with the LGPL as

Not to mention it's trivial to maintain a fork of the Go stdlib thank to its permissive license.

It's correct, in terms of physical servers installed. That said, there's no reliable comparison (that I know of) with VPS instances hosted by well known US companies (such as Amazon) because they are not quite as willing to releas

Code is just like literature. Too many words on a line and it looses the reader. All of this indeed depends on the density of the language you're using. If your're using extremelyLongVariableNames it may be ok to use 132 characters per line
