A thought, what if pinterest became popular because of it's content, despite it being presented poorly?

RestfulRouting is nice Edit: That library looks pretty good as well. It does come down to a personal preference thing.

I've never understood their sick obsession with attributes. When I first started using MVC, I thought it was clever to add HttpPost, HttpDelete, etc... After using a real routing library and then bringing one into my MVC project, it just lo

I have to build my entire project every time I want to update my client side code? That is an enormous tax to charge the developer just to add static typing to your client side code. I can't see this doing anything but slowing a team down.

I think you mean, when only looking at those things. Outside of hoisting, you just listed all of the issues. Even hoisting is only an issue when you start polluting the global namespace.

ReSharper/Web Storm do a much better job wrt to JavaScript. I still don't feel like I understand what you mean by "IDE code". Is all code written in an IDE, "IDE code"? I was left with the impression that it is some inferior subset. Would y

The whole point of continuous delivery is that correcting things like data structures is no longer the big deal it once was because it happens frequently. Rather than letting months (or years!) of data migrations pile up, you have a few day

Night and day. FxCop requires days of customization to include something into your build step. Even then, the recommendations are weak at best. Furthermore, think back to Carmack's comment on how static analysis has to at least be in your

ReSharper is the best lint tool you can get for dotnet development. It literally makes you a better programmer that writes cleaner code. It really sounds like JetBrains needs to make a similar tool for C++

Optics are a big part of the problem. We have job boards all over; here, SO, 37signals, etc... Everyone makes their own job board and wants $500 for employers to post there. So instead of giving gobs of money to the individual who successfu

'});' is absolutely a line of code. I would even consider ',' a line of code. Forgetting either one of those in a line of JS results in errors. Errors you have to spend mental effort looking out for. Don't discount the value of not having t

I really liked using Sinatra until I used it with a team. The lack of ceremony and structure (as you put it) killed us. The app started out as just a simple service, so why not use Sinatra right? Then things changed and we were more focused

Almost every javascript library you use is a singleton, so your second sentence makes no sense. Check the example, it is just the module pattern. If a programmer wants to deviate away from a pattern, the language lock-in won't stop them. Al

It's not that the language is hiding self/this so much as what manually passing those as variables represent. What you are saying is that you never need to call a method like this? > instance.method(instance)

Another response from a different source. Having to include self as a method argument means that those are not methods, but static functions. This really means there isn't precisely methods at all and the whole OOP part of python appears ha
