Wow, this is weird. Yesterday, on my work - home commute, I was thinking exactly this. I realized that the massive usage of Internet has led me to have more difficulties in concentrating and studying, and in general keeping focus on a given

I'm guilty of using tmp quite a lot. On my defense though, it's usually just that, temporary: I end up refactoring it down the road (most of the times)!

If by reverse you mean going forward instead of backwards, that should be done with Ctrl-S; it does not work in Bash though, since Ctrl-S locks the scrolling of the terminal. I believe this behavior can be overridden, through some .xinputrc

Does anybody know if there is an Etherpad-like service that allows to draw charts/tables/`free style' stuff? I was thinking that that might be useful during brainstorming sessions to help crystallize ideas...

IIRC, PayPal takes a commission on the transaction, around 30 cents if I am not mistaken. I think this means that the developers actually lost money in your case. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Ok, I tried to upvote you once, it didn't stick on (a quick) reload but the arrow didn't go away. I tried to upvote and wait some 5, 10 seconds and it didn't stick and the arrow is gone!

Well, it is the same for me too. I noticed this behavior one or two days ago, but I dismissed it thinking that maybe someone downvoted the user I just upvoted more or less at the same time.

Yup, that could be a solution too, but I think that a dedicated device is better suited for this task. I could read the papers on my home PC (although the laptop offers something more than the desktop, mobility), but I'd like to avoid the..

Looks like we're on the same boat then, I'd buy it mainly for the truckload of technical PDFs I've downloaded and only partially read...

How noticeable is the difference? I've been waiting for an international release for some time now, but the fact that it's only the 6 inch version leaves me a bit unsatisfied...

I'm using it on Slack's KDE4 and it opens Dolphin by default. Once I had it to open the folder with Firefox, dunno how though, probably a bug.

Does anyone here use Hushmail? I was looking for first hand experiences with it, since I've been considering a switch.

As I see it, Slackware is like a clean canvas, where you can easily paint whatever you'd like. I turned my gf's laptop in a perfectly functional media player, at the same time without sacrificing those things she needs for University and st

I had the same thought, but this strikes me as a pretty clever "hack" nevertheless: it exploits a functionality of the service to circumvent the service itself.

Memory analysis and exploitation is fascinating. Anyone knows any good resource for someone interested in it but still quite "noobish"? I know only Drepper's paper and the classic "Smashing the stack [...]"...

I don't know, but this sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. Perhaps it's just the reporter pumping up the story, dunno, but it really conveyed the image of a meeting of passionate people that enjoy what they do.

Mmh, I don't. I'm not really into it, so if I really need music while coding (it happens, although it's not the standard for me) I go for classic rock or something like that. Nothing too 'extreme' but at the same time something that I enjoy

I must say, between Jeff's first post on this argument and another discussion I saw this morning here on HN I got a bit paranoid and just now finished changing _all_ of my passwords, each generated and stored using an automated tool. I acte
