Awesome, expected Canva were going to jack up the prices or turn it into a subscription after acquisition. A freemium version is very welcome for the rare times I need to use it. No plans to ever be a paying customer myself (sorry Canva), b

High availability is touted as a reason for their high prices, but I swear I read about major cloud outages far more than I experience any outages at Hetzner.

Several years off AWS, the only thing I still prefer AWS for is SES, otherwise Cloudflare has the more cost effective managed services. For everything else we use Hetzner US Cloud VMs for hosting all App Servers and Server Software. Our .NE

Danya's death hit hard. He was a kind soul that was always generous with his time who loved playing, teaching and commentating chess and was easily one of the nicest GMs in chess. I was an avid watcher of his Stream while he was regula

We've moved most of our Apps off AWS to Hetzner years ago by switching to SQLite/Litestream > Cloudflare R2 replication to avoid needing to using a managed RDBMS and saved a bunch of $$$ [1]. Although for our latest App we'

I don't understand the entitlement here? Somehow because Meta has released a popular OSS library and dedicated over 10 years of engineering resources to it (that has generated immense value for the wider ecosystem), that they should&#x

All clearly designed to cash in on the speculative value being given to AI companies. Strategically I thought OpenAI's deal of getting 10% of AMD for driving their stock price to $600 was a pretty clever way of creating $97 Billion fro

Linux is the better OS. Windows 11 just forces people to evaluate other OS's to experience the latest Linux for themselves. I didn't have the time as a working Adult for distro hopping and Gentoo compiles, but the thought of hav

I left Visual Studio for Rider long before I gave up Windows, IMO it's far superior to VS for everything other than GUI Apps or Blazor hot reloading (which is basically broken in both). JetBrains seem to have the best IDE for every lan

Switched to Linux because of Windows 10 EOL as had no intentions of becoming a spam target for its ad/spyware ridden future. Was the push I needed to give up on 25 years on Windows which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Linux
