> has read a lot of good blogs but with no practical experience. I mean, yes essentially, right? Scraping every blog on the topic to generate a response without any actual coding experience behind it is literally how it was made.

Hardware is just one aspect of sales though. I assume they have much higher margin on software, especially rereleases of existing games on whatever the next platform is.

Not exactly the same, but SpaceVenture finally released at the end of last year: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1374960/SpaceVenture/

Just a point of clarity (because I read that at first as well), they spent tens of thousands of robux , which are at a generic level 100:$1. So not as crazy as it sounds, still an investment.

That makes sense. Many shooters at the time were called DOOM clones, regardless of their technique. It might mean something different to people today since the genre is now first person shooters, but it’s still valid.

You said “such as Wolfenstein 3D or the original DOOM”, which is only half true. You call it Cubedoom, a DOOM clone, but it’s using wolf3d techniques. I love raycasters, I’m making one right now. But they aren’t DOOM clones.

That’s a really clever idea/solution I hadn’t thought of before, and yet it makes “of course, duh” sense as well.

I assume the reason it’s not baked in is so they can “hotfix” it after release. but surely that many things don’t need updates afterwards. there’s novels that are shorter.

Wouldn’t multiplication just be an 8 bit lookup table? a*b is just lut[a<<4+b]

Also more subtly, we can detect what music is playing and “slightly modify” the tunes of bands not part of a label owned by a Trusted Partner to sound worse.

Maybe it’s related to the tendency of a group to think the way other groups do things is weird/wrong to justify the existence/stance of the group. like “those people all look stupid, they don’t dress properly like we do” type mi

I appreciate this warning near the top: This post contains floating point. Floating point is known to the State of California to cause confusion and a fear response in mammalian bipeds. I wisely hit the back button :)

I worked with a professor one time that used floppies for all his files (after they had been surpassed by thumbdrives) because each floppy was essentially a single folder, and he could wrap his head around that conceptually.

There was one time I was troubleshooting why an app used at a company would crash after some amount of time passed. Investigating the crash dumps showed it using 4GB of ram before it died, suspiciously the 32 bit limit of its application. T

If you can get bedrock working on it, I’ll be happy to follow your steps. None of their friends play java edition and it’s not compatible with their realms.

Yes, because all their friends use bedrock on tablets/switch/etc.

€50,000 / €43 / 12 is more than 96 years. Is anyone expected to pay their loans off, or in other words how much debt is forgiven each year?

Love 3DSage’s videos! Wish he’d do a part 3 on his doom-ish engine, though.

I love raycasters! This is great, thanks for sharing. I noticed the “fisheye” effect, was the cosine correction too expensive an operation given the hardware limitations?

Repeating a process, yes for sure, even (pseudorandom?) variations on a process. Understanding a process is a different question, and I’m not sure how you would measure that. In school we would have a test with various questions to show you

I loved Stratego as a kid but couldn’t find time to play as an adult. I stumbled across a mini version recently, which is 10v10 and goes much faster while still giving the overall feel of the game: https://boardgamegeek.com/
