What's with the points I gain for clicking on different parts of the website? It's nice that I'm a "Pro User" now, but also a tad odd.

2 works in Windows, xfce and Unity too, mostly (and has been for years). The focus stays on the calculator if you wanna type into it, but you can still scroll whatever your mouse is over. 1 certainly works in any Linux DE I've ever use

Twitter's search is similarly annoying. I most often use it to search for a person. I type in my search, the person shows up and in the time it takes me to move my cursor/thumb to the person and click, Twitter inserts some useless

Then I have yet another device permanently plugged in and running, at a time where I and frankly all of us should try to reduce our energy consumption.

Sounds like there should be a setup that works something like this: Some time before expiry, A gets a new cert and advertises that cert, while still using the old cert to secure the connection. When A makes the switch, B already has the new

It's also almost never 100% true. Even if the glasses are perfect, they also have to be perfectly clean or you get a bit of a blur anyway. Small enough to not be noticeable, but strong enough to blur the benefits of such a higher resol

Sadly just people I talked to. As I understand it, they felt that the technical stuff would be overshadowed by other stuff, and that things weren't clear enough, so instead of potentially picking a side, they refrained from both. Unfor

I think that's to avoid the whole Jakob Appelbaum kerfuffle. Both he and the rest of the TOR leadership were banned from giving talks this year.

That's not really true. They won't consciously believe that, but they won't use the technically superior product, if the competitor has the basics and a better design.

Rather since we have multi-gig RAM on consumer machines. On embedded systems it might not be trivial, but on my laptop with its 4gigs of RAM and even more so on my desktop with 16gigs, 50mbs is definitely trivial.

No, that's not true either. I've never had to show ID here in Switzerland, not least because I mostly vote by mail. And, since I think it's the same in Switzerland and Austria, you're not required to carry ID but if the

It doesn't take the same amount of time everywhere though. It took me almost an hour last time I did it because the trip was 10 minutes each way plus waiting plus the actual procedure. That's in Switzerland, and if it were this ef

Not really, in many cases. And no, a LOT of people can't afford to take time off in the US. Their employment systems really are that fucked up in certain cases. Plus, not all IDs are valid for voting! Hell, it's a hassle here in S

Getting an ID takes time and money. To get such an ID, you have to go through institutions like the DMV which do not have convenient opening hours or are in inconvenient locations. Many people, especially poor people, cannot afford to take

Wow, that was really hard on the Crossfire guys! They couldn't engage with him at all due to, I suspect, either a lack of self-reflection or because doing so would be admitting that they are harmful to public discourse. Thanks for the

They don't though. Evolving gives you, in my experience, +100, perhaps +200 CP. All my 10-50CP Pidgeys don't magically get useful by evolving. Though they do give nice XP.
