Why would you mix expect with ssh? Most of the time, if you can ssh, you can use an exec channel ("ssh somehost somecommand"), so you shouldn't need to pretend to be typing characters and waiting for prompts.

And then there are the "enterprise switches" from at least one major vendor, whose crappy ssh implementation only supports a single tty channel (no exec channels), so you have to run expect anyhow. :-( $ ssh root@router uname -a

True. But nowadays most regex implementations are quite good (apparently go's is not - I haven't used it). That said, most regex performance problems are PEBKAC. Writing a fast regex is hard and requires a pretty thorough understa

How do I know that ("jane" "jim") is a list (like ["jane", "jim"] in JSON) rather than an associative array (like {"jane": "jim"} in JSON)? S-exs can represent the difference certa

If LISP had a widely-accepted standard, non-turing-complete subset to represent the equivalent persisted data structures JSON does, it would still be less readable than JSON. There are reasons JSON is the lingua franca of modern API interac

I built a similar thing recently with python. Not complete, but a bunch of stuff does work. It's modeled on interacting on-device with a JunOS or Cisco config. Probably the most interesting feature is text completion. https:/

Yes. It's not that Earth is a political utopia. It's that Titan is simply uninhabitable. Not just very difficult to colonize. Impossible.

There's a huge difference between using IRS-allowed expenses to reduce your tax bill and claiming (as Snipes' accountants did) that all domestic income is not taxable. One is legal and the other is not.

Lots of people do exactly this, as least for some portion of their finances. Buying houses through an llc and renting to oneself is not uncommon. You lose the tax benefits of interest deduction, but if you're paying cash that doesn

My experience has been quite the opposite wrt ruby and python. I spent 2 years with Ruby as my primary language, and the regularity in which I would end up with a subtly (or drastically) broken Ruby environment was astounding. With python,

With AWS API gateway + lambda + dynamodb, I maintain exactly zero servers. Zero physical servers. Zero server OSes. Zero sysadmin. It's perfectly reasonable IMO for that to be called "serverless".
