Of course you can. Once the Internet reaches 51% penetration, you don't think we'll be able to benefit from the network effects of connecting part (all just isn't going to happen...) of the last 49% of the planet.

It depends--there's no good answer since it didn't happen, but regulation can be a good thing. It created incentives to build out the types of networks that require massive cap-ex (cellular, TV broadcast). If no one built these in the firs

Google didn't have any "real" revenue for the first couple of years either... Facebook's only been around for about 3 years. Give it time.

Agreed. It's logical too. Most high schoolers and college students have a very small network of friends, acquaintances, family, etc. (in relative terms). Once you get into the real world, you have to deal with people all over the place, oft

Andrew Frame came to speak at one of my classes at Stanford. He's intense and it seemed like he knew exactly what he was doing and where he wanted Ooma to go in a very Steve Jobs kind of way. I think this has the potential to be quite disru

I know another startup that was faced with a similar issue (they have since been acquired, proving that this does, indeed, work)--they decided to split it 49.9/50.1 with the person who thought of the idea first getting the majority. Natural

I forget where I heard about it, but one PG liked a lot was this guy who wrote that he'd devised something algorithmic for wiping after dropping the kids off at the pool. It involved lotion and toilet paper, maybe someone else remembers bet

I've heard some people propose that it will be 3-dimensional. Apparently some government agencies have created their own Intranets in 3D claiming it makes it easier to find stuff (not sure if I believe this or not...). If it's true, though,

I think BlackBerry users would beg to differ. I've seen some people typing pretty darn fast on those things, and I wouldn't have thought it possible. It's all about habituation.

I think this is great area to build something in. Highrise is good, but it's geared more towards CRM than PRM. I think you've got the right idea from the cursory look I took at your site. The UI needs a bit of work, but I'm sure you'll get

I like the metaphor. Perhaps without meaning to you've also explained one of the reasons it's attractive to take VC funding. Working those 3 years without pay really sets you back, but if you're getting a competitive salary, it doesn't and
