Yes, sync is hard, but it is not that it should take that long, especially when it is THAT important. When I was in a process of choosing PIM on iPhone, when gmail introduced Calendar sync I jumped on this feature literally next day. After

I agree with the article, however I would like to note two things: 1. In software engineering companies (especially smaller ones) tend not to provide any training to employees assuming it is their own problem. 2. Expecting expertise more of

I am not because I am Russian :) Seriously though, this joke is an example of a classical sub-genre of Russian jokes where Russians prove their superiority in various areas of life (including, ironically, heavy drinking) over westerners (us

For all of you design junkies here, Lebedev's ru/kovodstvo (or com/mandership for English language version and .com domain) is a very interesting read. Too bad "business lynch" is not available in English. This is where aspiring designers s

At my former employer (small one, ~80 employees) we had a similar situation. One of engineers left the company (with good-bye lunch and all) and showed up back 2 weeks later. I don't know what happened (we weren't close enough for me to ask

For Canadians, there's also TN-1 visa, which is a simplified way to get a work permit for a year. It has limitations compared to H1-B in terms of occupations, but it is much simpler to get. You need to have a letter from the company stating

I use Pocket Informant ( http://www.pocketinformant.com/ ). It is kind of GTD-based (though flexible enough to accomodate other workflows), synchs with Toodledo for tasks and Google Calendar for Calendar, has push notifications. Last time I
