Don’t know if I really buy the “piracy is the only option” line any more. It was for years. But you can now legally pay for the content you want, you just don’t like the price.

Nice one! I built something similar a few years ago, and found the most difficult problem was how to prevent people from voting twice. You sort of get stuck between wanting people to just be able to vote but then also needing them to authen

PiP is one of those things that never seemed particularly useful to me until I started using it, and now it’s one of my favourite features

This looks cool! Does anyone know of something similar but more appropriate for a 4 year old? This one might be good for me but I’d also love to get my kid playing something like this.

The 30 day limit is access to the storage API. So presumably the data is still there, you just need to give permission for it to be accessed again. It doesn’t necessarily imply that it just logs you out on 30 days by emptying the state.

Relax a bit and just use the tools you like. If it doesn’t make you more productive then don’t bring it into your stack. Love building things with plain old JS and CSS like it’s 2007? Go nuts, it all still works.

When I’m hiring and I expect to receive a lot of applications I’ll ask for a cover letter as a way to help filter out the first round. It’s basically a few hundred words to highlight which parts of their CV going to be relevant to the role,

Ah yes you’re right, my apologies. They don’t support the noindex directive inside a robots.txt any more.

Archivers aren’t going to crawl it unless someone actually provides the URL. At which point it’s the same as screenshooting and putting somewhere public, no?

Unless I’m mistaken, google don’t actually respect robots.txt any more. They recommend the use of some meta tag instead, from memory.

Final Cut Pro 7 and Aperture. Both discontinued by Apple in favour of dumbed down “consumer grade” replacements. Real shame.

Surely it’s not this alone. Most of the people who seem to be switching that I know still use Facebook itself anyway?

They were able to scrape “deleted” posts because they were just flagged but remained visible via the API. That’s a bug.

If you’re not requiring any level of authorisation to enable someone to read a post (ie, this post has been removed, you can’t see it any more or this is a private post, you must be a friend of its author to see it), then you’re just relyin

Presumably the company that operates these satellites has to comply with more than just "space law" though, right? Could you not still be compelled to go to "earth prison" wherever you're incorporated?

The leaving the house stuff may not be applicable if they’re somewhere with a hard lockdown. I think the UK is in that situation at the moment.

I found it quite useful to try and socialise a bit on zoom. We had a weekly movie night where we would both watch a film with some other friends - shitty action films or crap 90s films where everyone could just talk a bit of shit and have a

I’m guessing your kid is quite young. Just to echo @ruffrey, hang in there, it gets better. They get easier and more independent, and you learn to adapt. Covid lockdown is a hell of a time to have a small child in the equation! Totally feel
