Bench-marking a fat native call, rather than a purely-interpreted function, is a bit bait-and-switch.

Interesting, I'd always assumed reinterpret_cast<> was YOLO-anything-goes. You learn something every day ;)

I like it! The self-documentation of where the call is coming-from is quite nice (though a more descriptive name like CallFrom<T> would make that even clearer, were it the principle intent). I can't help myself, though: tem

How does failure-recovery (software bugs, hardware, or otherwise) or resilience-engineering more generally work on a system that demurs isolation and redundancy (honest question)?

The spirit of the problem, as it was presented to us in undergrad, is to modify the data structure in-place, not by allocating a scratch array.

Why should that constraint hold? It's not even true for simple vectors under the euclidean norm: ||<1,0>|| + ||<0,1>|| != ||<1,0> + <0,1>||

Yes, it's much like asm.js -- the code works as plain C# but can also be fed through their "burst compiler" to produce optimized native binaries: https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/scrip

Streams aren't modules -- they're views. If someone takes you as a dependency and wants you to have visibility on them they add themselves to your stream so you pull down their directory as well.

We have a perforce monorepo with ~80gb total payload for the whole thing, but everyone uses streams to filter it, so that's not a problem.

Because the cost() function OP posted isn't doing tail calls and can't be converted into tail call form.

Exceptions are a specific solution to a specific problem. E.g. you're an OS an you're pushing out a minor-version maintenance update which tightens security policy, adding new failure codes. You cannot expect every user applicatio

Invent it or don't invent it. There is no "if" -- that's just bikeshedding. Programming languages are tools, not products. Durable languages evolve to suit the needs of projects, not the aesthetics of the coders. We see

Check out the source sizes for Firefox or Unreal Engine. A project that's so small is a project that isn't putting big demands on the build system anyway, so that exception proves the rule.

Pretty neat! Would like to see if/how to handle field offsets/getters/setters that avoids loading/storing the whole encapsulated object. (Is that something the C++ templates can do without special annotations?) E.g.

Alternatively, don't write a runtime test for something the static type system can encode directly. In this case, have three members for the subprocessors with their concrete types, rather than a generic virtual-method-dispatch list.

OP opines, but cites no evidence, examples, or even anecdotes. If your work is slow and incorrect, your work isn't simple, it's incomplete. Also, some problems are irreducibly complex. Save us from "simple" and "lig

The confusion in the example is the choice of names "start" and "end". If we rename them "some_array" and "some_totally_different_array" the undefined behavior is clear.
