Also, everyone gets sick of everything eventually. At some point the tasks being done in those 16 hour days will cease to be fun and absorbing and interesting, at which point it becomes a living hell because you have to spend all your time

Wheels are Python packages, not unlike Ruby gems. They can optionally include shared libraries which extend Python with native code. This appears to be an attempt to standardize how such libraries are compiled for Linux.

You just made a textbook strawman. It doesn't do anyone any good to theorize about what the dumbest possible reason might be for Google to do this. It is infinitely more useful to think about what rational, informed reasons they might

I didn't downvote you (and I thought it was a thoughtful post), but I could totally see somebody interpreting "web-boy" as some sort of weird emasculating epithet a la "fanboi". On the Internet it's super easy

Yes, be more specific, but also there's no point in posting it here. Email the site maintainer to let them know, HN is not a tech support forum or a bug tracking system.

Agreed, there are tons of hotels and restaurants and things to do in the area, just not necessarily in walking distance (which is easily ameliorated by taking a fraction of the money saved from cheaper hotels and renting a car).
