Actually, it was originally designed to allow quick access to databases, but grew very quickly. So, no, not a silly reason at all.

For battery usage, I've gotten some good info from the Carat app. http://carat.cs.berkeley.edu/ On iOS and Android. As their site says, "Carat is a free app that tells you what is using up the battery of your mobile device, whether th

What's great about this is not only that it's a good quick summary, but it left me wanting more. That means I actually feel like I was getting somewhere with it, instead of it being instantly forgotten.

You imply that the MAB approach has problems, or at least is not as "sound". Care to state what those problems or issues are?

Impressive: an article about price without the word "demand" or "supply". Or about the standard for "expensive". This could have been interesting, but didn't quite get there. As a consolation prize, I offer: http://gizmodo.com/5019797/ev

This reminds me of "The Fantastic Four" movie first released in 1994. Done in about a month for a (relatively) meager budget by Roger Corman, the movie was rushed out solely to keep the option to make a bigger film in the future. http://e

This sounds a lot like the traditional "design a music database" that we used to use as a test question 10 years ago. It's easy to make a single song db, but once you include compilations (album artist different from song artist), classic

Longer or more expensive is simply filtering. Agony is creating a new metric. I see those as different. Now, if the metric is useless or synonymous with some of it's underlying drivers, then you are right, nothing there. I find the agon

For those in the US, Meccano's are what are now sold here as "Erector" sets. The older Erector sets were actually a slightly different design from the 1920s by Gilbert, but those are long gone and sorely missed by many.

I do find, however, that we create increasingly complex "frameworks" in the aim of flexibility. We then say how "simple" they are after we learn all the complexity, and use "design patterns" and other heuristics to try to hide just how ve
