That's not about uber-geeks. It's simply about usability. And the rest of the society will not complain about the failing usability but it will notice it.

Matching the overall design is not an excuse for doing such a thing. It changes the default behaviour & design of standard scrollbars and this is a serious design flaw.

Please take a look at this: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9605.html Section "Violating Design Conventions". This is exactly why you shouldn't implement/use other scrollbars and similar things which change the behaviour of standard design

Hmm.. 5$ respectively 5 CHF? I want to try it but when I click on "Buy app" it tells me that the price is actually 20 CHF and not 5... Someone else with a similar problem?

Thanks mate. I tried it on vimeo.com (as author suggests) and it doesn't seem to work. One point is: The UI is somehow broken (no styling, and "application settings", "update" and the checkboxes each are on their own line). Second point: W

That's nice to hear! I'll take a look on how to help. As mkopinsky points out it's sometimes hard to tell what really leaks memory. I can tell the same thing as he, but I think it has been improved a lot lately. Sometimes I had after some

Regarding #2: Yeah, that would be really great. Could also lead to less memory consumed

Couldn't agree more. As I and my teammate started working on Candy ( http://amiadogroup.github.com/candy ) we knew that we want to open-source the project. Therefore we built everything so modular and flexible that even we used the vanilla

I don't really think that's true. Look at Jabber.org which is probably the biggest jabber network out there and it seems they're scaling pretty well. Edit: Also XMPP supports UTF-8 for everyhting out of the box and as far as I know it's not

Generally I agree doing SQL queries on your own. I'm also not really an ORM-Fan because it's really hard to debug and difficult queries are more difficult to construct using an ORM. But doing your SQL Statements in the Controller is just no

Also for me, I first didn't get it (at least with those adjustable values in the text). But the graph is very cool! Some UI improvements and I think it's ready for mom/dad use ;)

Really true. I'm currently working on a project where the deadline is fix but the code upon we build is bad :/ As a result, code doesn't get better, more code is being done and refactoring is not top priority.

I'll definitely try that out, as I'm not that happy with ejabberd (documentation is awful and erlang is..well.. a little bit weird to me). Does it already support MUC? Btw. did you see vines? the ruby xmpp server? Sounds also interesting

Since I got an Imac at work, I mount the remote file system over SSHFS and it works quite good. Before I used ZDE 5.5 for PHP dev. and opened the files remotely via SFTP. It was also not bad, though ZDE 5.5 is really buggy. What I miss is a

Well, you can try to do that. But it's focused on multi-user chatting. Maybe another software would be a better fit.

You can also use nginx. I don't know about nginx supporting url rewritings, but basicly you just need that for rewriting http-bind/ to your jabber server's http-bind
