Awesome. When I first heard of Thoonk, I failed to grasp its utility, but after reading this I can't wait to try it out. The ease this will afford in isolating features is really exciting. Anybody else think this after reading the article a

If you have two programmers, and one is "10x more productive" than the other in that he knows when to reuse or adapt other code, but there is a problem that actually does require writing code, which one will put out a more correct, reliable

This is cool. I would like to see more news from accepted Startup Chile companies. Julio says there are lots of other benefits afforded by Chile, as has been said elsewhere; I'd like to hear some firsthand anecdotes about these benefits.

There's nothing I want more from a politician's response than a simple, "Yeah, you're right, this shit sucks."

You bring up Marxism, and it's interestingly relevant. Happiness and liberty, for Marx, are about deliberately creating our material world. That is, every man is equally free to shape the conditions in which he lives (so far, presumably, as

Honestly, I feel like people are too scared of C, and sometimes I think that derives from ignorance about systems (and not quite the type of systems Rust is supposedly dealing with, I don't think; but I didn't finish the slideshow). Read CS

Really? School House Rock's _How a Bill Becomes a Law_ is Engadget's idea of a "Video recap of the patent reform process"? Thanks for furthering civil education I guess.

For this audience, this might get more clicks if the title mentioned CS, nanotechnology, AI, etc. not physicists. And besides that, the title is incorrect: the only bomb mentioned in the article was sent to the author's brother; the author

Okay, I'll give you #2 after that. And I'll point out that asking for a 10:1 difference in expressiveness from JS is, let's face it, ridiculous. (Except in specialized domain applications perhaps.)

I'm bothered by these bits: Mr. Schlueter writes "you don’t compile it to target a given platform," as if this would be an advantage or a justification for existing ... when it's really quite the opposite. I don't know when "order of mag

Perhaps intellectually honest, but a weak conclusion nonetheless: in my understanding, getting Safari 5 to run on Windows requires porting parts of Apple's huge, complicated Cocoa framework to Windows. That framework is always changing, and

At first we thought the high error rate could be the result of the fact that we always run Safari on Windows, while it’s made by Apple. That’s easy to dismiss, because earlier versions of Safari were fine. I'm sorry, what? That's a prett
